  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Packing Your Epic: Pelican 1510

Hi Andreas, do you have some pics of these setups you could share?

Hiya Davud!
We are just in Thailand next to the beach editing our movie. I figured out a way that you can work on 2 computers at the same Event (library) in Final Cut Pro X so we can basically both edit on the same things.

When I'm back from Thailand I will grab some pictures and show how we pack things. Our setup is getting more and more slim. We managed to get the setup so we have the Epic, Follow Focus, 400mm lens, still tripod in just one backpack so I can put it on the bike and ride away and get some shots of Herons on the morning. Pretty crazy to have all this power on a bike! We also figured out a way of putting our Sachtler Video S1 tripod in a hikers backpack so we can bring it on the bike as well if needed.

We are just now getting more mobile, going to sell all our furniture and become mega slim. It will be Natalie and I, our Apple laptops, our Epic and our visions working in the coolest places of the world :)

Thanks Andreas. It is pretty crazy to have so much camera power fit in a backpack. Looking forward to seeing the pics!

fits perfectly.

one case for a complete epic setup (body, lcd, ssds, v-mount plate, 2x readers, cables, smallhd monitor, canon mount, rods, rod support)
one case for powering (6x bricks, 4x redvolts, chargers, cables)
one case for mattebox + filters and cleaning stuff (mattebox, filters, cleaning utils)

I got a couple, I love it but still working out the kinks to make it perfect. One thing about Trey Pak is that you will go insane on making your pelican case perfect. I have slept many nights repacking it before a big shoot!!!

^Insanely well thought out and organized.

I looked at the Terapak stuff for other uses, also. Here is a set up I went with for the primary case:

Jason Comparetto with CinemaOxide did a great job on the custom cut I wanted.

I'm curious. What kind/size cases are those?

love my trekpak system but they are always busy and out of stock :(

Yeah, it does take them a couple weeks to get back to you, but it's generally the CEO, which is kind of rad.

I was all for them, but the shipping/duties to Canada is 1/3rd the cost. From BHphoto to Toronto for a 1510 is less than $30 (with brokerage)… From Trekpak - case or even just inserts - is almost $70 using USPS, which is Le Poops (and that doesn't include brokerage/duties/taxes). Bah. Humbug.
