  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

P+S Technik IMS Interchangeable Mount System report

Red knows they cannot do it all by themselves, and that's okay -- they've demonstrated a willingness to work with others by reselling the Element Technica Arri base plates in Red's own store. They're supporting a company that makes fantastic add-on products. Heck, they did the same thing with Doug's Nikon mount.

So maybe the prospect exists for them to work together to offer the P+S Technik interchangeable lens mount system as a factory-offered option? That would indeed be exquisitely cool. And, hey, since it's an option, you don't have to actually buy it if you don't need it, right? So if it's expensive, that's P+S's problem, not Red's. If they could satisfy any warranty/service issues, I'd love to see Red work with P+S Technik to make this an option.

Barry,

you are right, let's put them together.

P+S Technik just have got Academy Award for scientific and technical achievements for SKATER® Mini Camera Dolly.

Actually would be excellent to put RED and P+S Technik to work together in development of different accessories for RED and upcoming Scarlet.

P+S Technik has a product line with the highest quality engineering and mechanical finishing in the industry.

Sanjin you are the best !
Siemensstrasse ? how crazy ist that ?

Alfred Piffl,

Managing Director at P+S Technik showed me the factory.

Curiosity is that some of the main machines for a precise

cutting various metal pieces are MADE IN USA.

So they have mixed German and American machine technology to do the best.

Bruno, I am just only a special one.

we have to speculate, but probably yes.
Or, PS builts a mount for the birgermount :)

It seems like Birger could make their mount so that the camera side fits into the IMS mount.

Erik?

Did they not change the mount after the first 100?

Yes, and that's the point. The P+S Interchangeable Mount System looks like it'd need to replace the whole front of the camera, so the existing mount would be discarded. So, cameras 1-100 could potentially make for ideal test mules for this.

Any news Sanjin?

My best, Corrado.

No any news.

They are quite now.

It's a week before NAB.

I'm sure they are all very busy.

I've been thinking about this for a while. I think this is the ideal solution for the RED lens mount. The ability to quickly change lens mounts is so desirable. I've wanted that ability with a film camera but it was never possible due to the reflex mirror. Being able to use any lens is such a huge advantage.

I know both Alfred (P+S) and Jim, so I will bring this up at NAB and see if we can come up with a practical solution. I've got all the tools necessary to do this type of installation in my workshop (Miami).

Great Jorge!

Please meet them and get them together.

This could be a real revolution using many types of lenses on RED.

Can you PM me with your contact telephone and address detail as I'm wanting to have one of your PL mount adapters fitted to our Arri standard mount lens?

Many thanks

Looks like Q3 2008. Something else of note is that they state the P+S Technik IMS optical viewfinder will be available "in the future".

Interchangeable lens mounts, and an optical viewfinder? NAB just got a tiny bit more interesting.

From the render that looks like a total front end replacement including the removal of the Red adjustment ring.

How do P+S keep the mount within spec with the various lens mount options?
Would hate to have shim between mount options.

Optical VF? Hopefully at NAB they'll have a prototype rigged to a SI camera.

All that one has to do to make interchangeable mounts on a camera work is to have the BASE mount be zeroed out to a given camera. Which requires that the base mount be set up to each individual camera.

Oh Yeah, and then make the individual adapters to a given standard.

It's not rocket science.

Hey Sanjin, are your P+S mates on this forum? Would be nice to hear it straight from the horses mouth (not that there's anything wrong with your mouth, it seems to work quite well).
