  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ownership transfer

Brian,

you can not transfer ownership of a camera now and be able to remain eligible for stage 3.

if you change the registration of the camera now, with the owner of record's approval, you will loose al future rights of upgrade path too Epic-X stages.

The only way is for you not to buy the camera outright but to do a Lease Option to Purchase, and then the camera will remain on the owner's of record, till the Epic-X is delivered, then you buy out your option and take possession of the Epic-X, then proceed with the Transfer of owner ship with Red, assisted buy the owner of Record, pay the Inspection, Transfer fee, and added warranty should you choose to do so, this off course all is depending on what Red will offer when the tie comes, but for now we know that the transfer of ownership of a R1 is $500 ++.

For this I have executed a Legal Lease/Option to Purchase with a One Dollar buy out, to protect both Owner/Sellers, and Lessee/buyers.

Set-up some rules and also give people some other routs to over come those rules. is not a funny thing?

Sorry but I don't see it that way, Red has rules, like any other company, this rules do not tell you you can't lease your gear, they just say that if you sale out right a camera to change ownership transfer after the given dead line, then you will forfeit your rights to the Epic Path, seems pretty clear and fair to me.

I was going to buy a camera through Ketch... it didn't work out on my end because of money, but I did get as far as having my contract person check out his contract.

Its solid and straightforward. It is definitely the smart way to do this type of transaction. It works with RED's rules for EPIC upgrades and it can get you a camera now.

Just wanted to chime in with a vote of confidence in what Ketch is saying.
