  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So in light of this evenings announcements I've called my credit card companies to notify them I may be making a large purchase.

Unfortunately, it appears that single transactions of over 10k are restricted/patriot acted/not allowed on all my cards (even debit).

I assume large transactions are why RED has the deposit/wire transfer process, which makes sense. But I would be bummed if I couldn't buy a Scarlet because THE MAN won't let the transaction process even though plenty of funds are available.

Anyone else run into this before? It does not appear the RED store allows you to split a transaction into 2 parts.

If you're a definite "GO" you can wire the money to your Red Account right now and be ahead of the game. If you don't have an Account yet, I would def set one up ahead of the announcement!
 
Surely you are going to be able to pay a deposit and then be given even 24hrs to arrange the balance? What if the complete kit is 18k. Who is going to be able to send that tonight on a card over the internet. Equally who is going to wire 18K to RED's account when they don't even know what the final spec is and more importantly when the delivery date is? If 5000 people order one tonight some of us are going to waiting a good few months. Redmotes and Bomb EVF's cant be supplied to Epic owners now and remembering Jim's words 'We will never ever be out of backorder'............

CC purchases over 10K are not restricted because of Patriot act, I would try back and talk to another agent. If you have the limit available, the charge should not be an issue.

I had no problem charging over $10k when I paid for my EPIC-X. Like you, I called to give them the heads up since it was such a large amount.

Yea, they told me they would note it (like usual) but if it exceeds 10k, it will "probably be denied".

Grumble.
 
agreed, if RED didn't accept a deposit that would be pretty strange.. Unless it's 6k! Wooooohoooo!
 
Wire transfer takes 3 days to be a cleared balance at RED according to Bomb Squad; I left it too late.

I did call my CC company and 'pre-authorised' large transaction; should be no problem. Patriot Act is complete BS as others have pointed out. Might flag security and require a phone call to you to confirm it's genuine if you don't check in with them first.

Abbreviation chaos!! I read CC and thought "Color Correction? Somebody wants to spend 10k on Color Correction?" :)
 
If you are placing a credit card deposit on a RED product, we will charge that amount soon after time of order. The balance due on the credit card will be charged when your product is ready to ship.

Bugger the deposit; I want it paid in full and shipped ASAP... whatever it is ;-)

Was that a hint that only deposits will be taken tonight, I wonder?

How long ago could you place a payment for epic? the wait to actually get one in full is quite long. I do not think scarlet will be any different. again if epic owners have not received their redmotes I will be supriced if scarlets where shipped with redmotes, Bomb EVF's and such tomorrow morning.... that would be very much a game changer. RED do wonders and those does not usually come when you snap your fingers, it takes time and usually it goes half right the first time and then it will be ok around third try or so... So, today is nov 3, but there will as always be some new RED thing to wait for even after this date.. Not to say that I will go to bed now.. LOL
