Our RED Scarlet-X (and by default EPIC) Shoulder Mount

We are a rental shop and sell RedRock Micro parts. We used our infinite amount of RR micro parts to make the bare minimal shoulder mount system. So far it has been received by our clients with gratitude and we've had a lot of requests for pics. Please note: this rig is not standard or available from RR Micro..it's an a la carte rig using all RR Micro parts but the shoulder pad is Zacuto (well in this case a knock off from Zacuto available from CineCity who knocked off the Zacuto shoulder pad - in full disclosure the actual Zacuto pad is much softer and nicer).

My two cents - Bring the handles further back and wedge the shoulder pad underneath the camera further. This would probably allow you to use a heavier battery in the underslung configuration and make the whole rig smaller while still being balanced.

i suggest you mount the camera further back and displace the lcd so that it's mounted of the left rail closer the the op's face. Also if the body is pulled back the counterbalance shouldn't need to go too far out - should make for a more compact setup.

Thanks for the feedback. It balances as is very well...of course the monitor can go on the handlebar (standard RR config) or the Bomb. One thing worth noting is it's not only cheap but strong and all the parts can be used to make other rigs depending on taste.

bring those handles lower. Reaching up like that will make your center of gravity more unstable and is a lot more awkward to hold. If you drop those handles about a foot lower you can relax and let your arms hang in a more relaxed fashion making your shots a lot smoother.

The biggest issue with this rig, like a lot of rigs, is that fixed touch screen. It needs to be positioned so the operator can see, I defy anyone to see that in its current position let alone operate (unless of course there is an evf which isn't visible from the pics). Bolting the screen to the front of the brain is fine for tripod work but useless in my opinion for rigs.
