  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OSEE Monitor Group Buy - New Kits!!

Guys, tell me please is there any difference between 15,6'' and 17'' monitor? Or it is the same model in different size?

How are people liking the HCM 700. I've used mine on a couple as wireless directors monitor for the director...and its been decent so far. Also plan to use it for wireless focus pulling when needed. Overall a nice monitor....but with a few headaches as it relates to navigating the menu with the joystick sometimes. In a few (just maybe two in my experience) menu settings...the Lut menu being one. Sometimes the joystick works ok and sometimes its a pain in the ass and just doesn't respond. It's also not very good for me to use as a DP monitor (which I want to use it as sometimes) because the false colour has no IRE scale making the false colour feature useless to me, and I love to use false colour. The waveform still has that pulsating/vibrating thing going on. While the waveform is usable its def not ideal with it vibrating like that. I've spoken to Thom about it multiple times and he has been very responsive to emails but still no firmware fix. So its great in some respects and a tad bit pain in the ass in few other areas for me. The brightness is also decent outdoors in direct sun...though I have a woodencamera sunshade also. I can definitely recommend the wooden camera V2 directors monitor cage. Love it (pic below).

How is the delay on the Osee monitors compared to Flanders. I've found Flanders to be unusable because of the delay. Even on fast mode it's too much.

No discernible delay on the HCM 700. I would not hesitate to use it as a wireless focus pulling monitor. I have no experience with the larger models.

Anyone compare this to the SmallHD 702 Bright?

Is OSEE ever going to make their website not suck? You can find SOME info about their new high bright 21.5", but no idea how to find out how to buy.

The site is not very user friendly at all

My suggestion is to email Thom directly thom@oseeamericas.com . I can't imagine how many customers Osee has turned off because of that website.

I think the Osee 7” blows away the SmallHD offering...but some people may not agree.

In terms of delay, I use Osee’s entire line of monitors for my productions, from WFF to video village. It’s nice having a decently color accurate representation of what’s going home.

Chris...do you experience any problems with the Joystick when trying to change Luts on your HCM 700? Also does your waveform vibrate/pulsate?

I don’t load LUTS...since I’m usin g a Weapon Helium and it’s outputting the LIT embedded in the wireless stream.

I don’t recall having a vibrating waveform (don’t use that either since I’m using the RED histogram/stoplights. I’ll check for you.

Cool. My Zacuto gratical outputs luts but since its downstream it affects the exposure tools so that's why i'd rather use independent luts on the OSEE. The joystick works sometimes and other times it's almost impossible. Overall though its a good monitor.

There's an update coming with IRE color scale (NOT IRE guide like the smallHD has with numbers, just color). It also addresses some of the lag in the joystick.

I had an issue where some cameras would have issues with the HCM700, GH5 + C200. It ended up being my HDMI cable. I'm not sure which spec is required though if you were like me and had issues, swap HDMI cables. Thom was kind enough to help me trouble shoot it in person. Keep in mind the US Office is VERY small and do NOT employ a full time customer support person. With that said, Thom does know that that's been a pinch point and is always apologetic as well as incredibly helpful when I get ahold of him.

GH5 HLG shooters (and yes..I know this is a RED board ;) ) Thom has some HLG viewing LUTs that I was pretty impressed with. I'm pretty stoked with the HCM700 save for a few quirks. Does anyone else get a small amount of delay? I mean super small though noticeable enough?

Hey Randy...i already have that firmware with the false colour scale colours. I've been testing it for Thom from it was in Beta for a couple months and gave feedback about it needing the numbers because it really is useless without the numbers. I have since (about a week ago) given him examples of the numbered scale on my zacuto gratical and SmallHD 502 and he has passed it on to R&D. The non beta official firmware has been out for about a week or 2 which u can download from the site. Thom is always helpful and and the customer service is great. I just think he's a bit in over his head in regards to how many people he has working for him...not in regards to the monitor itself. Its a great tool. Just needs a few more tweaks. That said...i haven't noticed a delay on mine...and I've used it to remotely pull focus. I also only use it with SDI ...so I don't know if that matters.

Thanks to this thread, I purchased the HMC700 about 7 months ago. I agree with everyone here, it's an amazing monitor for the price.

There are some quirks with the menu navigations that take some getting use to, but that's a small price to pay for what your getting. I haven't noticed any lag in the image response time. One of my favorite features is being able to activate multiple tools at the same time. For example if you need to have your waveform and histogram up while check focus plus, they can all be activated at the same time. That's a small feature that makes a big difference while you're shooting. Plus as others have mentioned here, Thom Belford provides excellent customer service.

Anyway, I love this monitor but I decided to part with it to find a smaller lighter option for my rig. It's in mint condition and comes with all the original packaging. I'm sure some out there will put it good use.

For anyone interested, here's the link to the for sale listing in the reduser marketplace.

Looking to buy these monitors for remote focus pulling, is there an upgrade coming out in NAB? Or I can just go ahead and pull the plug

Anyone know where I can get the HMC 700, manage to get 1 unit in stock at Hot Rods, need to get one more.
Thanks

Have to say that their website turned me off as well, but Thom been amazing to me, one of the best customer service I got from any film company if not the best.
Was actually shocked from how much Thom cared and tried to help out, considering the very affordable pricing they offer, he earned me as a customer.

Internet is not always the most important thing, it's the people behind it.

I have the Osee 15.6" btw, and it's by far the best monitor for the price.
