  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Origo Record stop/start button

Just got mine a week ago, testing it today. I bought the longest cable in order to use it with a crane. Will let you know how it works later today.
I was #80.

Chas, we have 50 extra units that we can ship from stock as soon as we receive cables (looking like early next week). Those 50 will probably be spoken for within a week so we are already ramping up on the next order which will take a few weeks to build up.

I now have three different cable lengths for my Origo unit: 21/2', 10', 30'

They rock! I can't imagine going back to not using Origo with my RED cameras. I use the 21/2' cable for tripod and on the prototype ET Shoulder Mount I'm testing. I use the 10' and 30' cables for boom and jib work.

I recommend Origo highly..it's money well spent...

Yes, I feel that its safe to say they did not come in on Friday. The guys over at Lemo have told me that they will be delivered on next Tuesday.... this is very frustrating. We decided that all product builds and cable builds are going to be done in house from now on. We are moving into a new place with much more room so we can bring people onboard to make things happen faster.

On another note.... I have noticed that the build 16 firmware causes the tally output on the camera to not work properly.... Has anyone else noticed this? The tally signal stays high regardless if record is inactive. Basically it makes the beep and record light on Origo not work because it needs that tally to know if the camera is recording or not.

Hey man, all you can do is all you can do and you can't do no more. When all the capabilities are brought in house, then the responsibility falls on your shoulders. Until then, you (and we) are subject to the whims of your vendors.

No such problems here. My Origo works fine with build 16.

So the record led comes on and it beeps when you press the record button? Hmm. I've seen this on a few <#500 cameras, a couple >1000 cameras. It seems to be all over the board. Odd.

It's worth it's weight in gold for 3 reasons it's start stop abilites, it's roll / cut beep tone and also as a battery gauge. I'm using non-red batteries and it's much more accurate than the built in display.

Just some one off home-brew things to get the job done... Not for sale, but you can feel free to copy it.

Some of it probably getting replaced by ET stuff as it becomes available.

The drive mount has suspension bushings ( hard to see in the photo ) they make a big difference as far as dropped frames under situations that have high frequency vibrations. It would be a very worthwhile mod to the red cradle if you can figure out how to do it . ET's mount looks amazing in this respect, I've seen it and I think it will work even better than mine does.

I like the battery on the dumb side - it works great there, for general balance and it keeps the camera compact.

The Origo now has got it's own bracket, lives on the camera full time I'm probably going to get another for the next hand held bracket. Pound for pound the best accessory there is.

As I've reported to Curt already, I have this problem. Initially with a beta16 build. I've now installed Release 16 and same issue. The start/stop works, but the battery indicator, the record tally and the beeping don't.

Apparently this seems to affect some cameras and others not, both with build 15 and with 16. How many people are having this problem ?

Cheers,
Damien

Curt - how about a end-split to control two cameras for stereo (3D) rigs? All I am after is the button with 30' cable and then a split that will provide 2x 18" to connect two redheads. This split end should be detachable (in fact You could make it as an optional accessory) so I can use the control with one camera only when needed...

What do you think?

PS: I am not worry too much about the battery status, but it will be great if it worked (at least of one camera)...
