  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Origo Record stop/start button

Norm, I don't have mine yet, but there was a post here someplace that said the Origo has a smart button. Try pressing different sides of the button to see if that triggers the ramp.

Greg, I was wondering the same thing, so I just went to the View Factor forum and found our units (mine is no. 130) are currently scheduled to ship on 9-3.

Here is the link to the info:

We're still waiting on Lemo. We gave them drawings over 4 weeks ago and still haven't gotten the cables. They assured me that I would have 50 sets of cables this week so we could start shipping but instead of sending us the cables we needed to ship they sent us cables that we just recently listed on the website (10' and 50'). I am on the phone with them now and trying to figure out whats happening and why they can't seem to deliver finished goods to us. We have already vowed that we are doing all assembly and cables in house from now on. I apologize for the delay and we are doing our best to get these out asap.

Curt - how about a end-split to control two cameras for stereo (3D) rigs? All I am after is the button with 30' cable and then a split that will provide 2x 18" to connect two redheads. This split end should be detachable (in fact You could make it as an optional accessory) so I can use the control with one camera only when needed...

What do you think?

PS: I am not worry too much about the battery status, but it will be great if it worked (at least of one camera)...
We'll have something on the website soon... we've been talking about doing that for awhile.

How do you set the Origo to trigger ramps instead of just recording?
Go to your GPIO menu under system preferences... set the desired port to "RAMP" instead of "RECORD". Now go to the sensor menu under varispeed... check on "VARISPEED" then go to the ramp selection and select "ON-EVENT". Now change the start and end frame rates to what you want. Press the record button on the camera to start recording... at any time you can press the origo to start a frame ramp then press the record button on the camera to stop.

Hi Curt,

Did the Origos ship out yesterday (09/03/08)? I didn't receive a shipping email/tracking number... or are they delayed?

Thanks.

Hi Curt,
my Origo shipping date is approaching (#192) and i didnt receive an answer to my address change. Please, when you have a minute, very important.
Best

Still waiting for cables from Lemo. I will update the schedule tomorrow. We will ship all orders as soon as we receive the cables. Paolo... we got your address changed, sorry it took so long to respond.

We only have 20 of the long cables in stock and we have over 250 orders to ship out. I have sent several scathing emails and voice mails to the lemo guys and they just aren't performing. Per our contract with them we are supposed to have cables in our hands on Saturday, if we don't then there is going to be hell to pay.

Order Number ORD200809044
Order Status Pending Shipment
Order Date 09/04/2008

Looking forward to using it in combo with the Swit Bat mount...

Curt, it's been over a month now since I ordered. I was wondering when I would expect mine? Just a rough idea would be excellent.

PCBAs are going into pick and place on Monday. We should have them in hand on Wednesday. We are building up the enclosures on Monday-Wednesday and will be ready to integrate the PCBAs on Thursday. After I get confirmation from the board house that delivery will occur on Wednesday then I will give a solid shipping date for the remainder of the orders... my gut tells me it will be towards the end of the week or early the week after. After this build we will be caught up on all orders and will be shipping from stock.

Curt! I received my Origo and everything works as promised! Can't wait to test it out on my shoot this weekend. You guys rock! I love it when I call a place and can talk to THE MAN in person. That goes for the Red team as well.

One small thing; the bolt is a different size (4mm) than the rest of the hex bolts used on the Red. It would be nice to (for those who are not going to bother to replace the bolt) have it the same size as one of the hex bolts already in the Red complement (perhaps the 2.5).

Justin, the allen wrench for the 1/4-20 bolt is a 5/32", not 4mm. If someone manufactured 1/4-20 button head cap screws in the length we needed then we would have been ore than happy going with the next size up that would be the ame as a few of the bolts on the Red.

Hi Curt, got mine today. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Just wondering about the changes? The power LED is the top battery indicator LED too?

What was the GPI button for? It is not on this version either?

Checked back in the thread and couldn't find any answers.

I like the instructional postcard too, nice touch.

The GPI was very early on before I had a chance to dig into the full design of the boards. The intention was to swith over to single frame mode but it turns out that you cant really do that from outside the camera (it needs to be set via a menu). The power led was redundant after we added the power meter. Glad you like it.
