Well I was going to go for the Scarlet, but couldn't stand the wait I saw everyone having to do!!

Decided to order the Epic-W now they're out of stock as well at Red EU, starting to think giving up the chase of owning my first Red Camera

Getting a new RED, waiting is part of the game my friend. However, Epic-W is a much shorter wait. But, it sounds like the Scarlet-W is getting a HUGE boost in production in April, but the price will go up 20%. So a few things to think about. Put money down on a Scarlet-W to get it for the price it is now, and the wait shouldn't be too bad from the snippets from Jarred. Or get the Epic-W, and should have it in about 2 weeks or so. Could always go the Used market too to try and get it quicker. I see some Epic-Ws on the Marketplace here.

Any questions about your first RED cam, this is the place to be!

Always wanted the Epic, just gutted when I finally did order it they said they're is no stock!! Sad times

Purchase through a retailer? Companies like say Maxx Digital or others might have one in stock.

I called around and found two Scarlet-W's within 4 days, but then the EF mounts were out! I ordered a pass-through wooden camera until I get my DSMC EF mount.
Good Luck!

We are waiting since december for an Epic W. Ordered via retailer and as a trade in for Dragon M.

Hi Shaun,

Believe me, when you receive the camera you'd be on cloud nine for what its worth. We did something similar to you. We ordered the RAVEN and waited almost 9 months for that camera. Then our Bomb Squad Rep (Clark McLanathan) encouraged us to upgrade it to a Scarlet-W. Somewhere down the waiting game we heard Scarlet allocations were months behind due to unexpected demand for RAVEN brains. Finally we decided to take the plunge and get an Epic-W through AbelCine (our Bomb Squad Rep was very successful in showing the pros and cons etc . And our rep (Janice Gopez) at AbelCine was extremely helpful as well). Our Epic-W came in just shy of two months from the date of upgrade.

Sure it was a large sum of money when compared to other two camera bodies. But everything what you get with the Epic-W is worth the upgrade. We are extremely satisfied with our decision to go with the Epic-W route. I'm telling you, we could not have been any happier than that.

I'm sure you'd be happy to own a state-of-the-art camera soon if you stick with your decision to wait for the delivery. It is worth the wait. In the mean time if you were to get gigs, you could always rent an Epic-W or ask for a "loaner camera" through RED EU (if they have such a program).

Good luck,
