Dear RED-Team,

when do we get an official statement / update on the order and/or production status of the RAVEN?
We are all waiting our asses off. We need some clarity here - at least I do.

Thanks!

The wait sucks but I assure you its worth it! I absolute love mine

Yes, I would like to explain that I am not looking to be pleased or unrealistic time frames. I am happy to wait. I have waited 11 months so far...
But surely by now there must be some rough average of Ravens that can be produced per month, as an example lets say it is 10 cameras per month.
I believe RED would benefit by telling customers based on the production average when they are likley to receive a camera . 10 months, 12 months, 14 months, 18 months, 24 months.
Realistic ball park predictions based on how many actual units per month so far that have been produced.
This is really basic customer service and really basic maths.
I can't believe when I ask my rep that he has no idea at all!
Surely it would not be hard for RED to know how many units on average are being manufactured per month, surely they have a list of how many orders they have.
I don't mind waiting 12 months, 14 months, 16 months but if I had a ball park prediction as to when to expect the camera it would get on and happily use other cameras, set up a rental deal or do whatever I need to organise my business until that time.

On the Red website it states "ORDERS PLACED TODAY EXPECT TO BE SHIPPED IN EARLY 2017". That is obviously very vague, but if people who order today can realistically expect to have them within the next 6 months, then people who have had their orders placed for the past few months/year should expect them soon, right? One would think.

I'm sure this will be a phenomenal camera and worth the wait, and I have not waited half as long as most people here. There just needs to be some insight. It's really just poor customer service which is a shame because we all hold Red in such a high regard. What makes it even more frustrating is they know people have been waiting on the edge of their seats to receive the camera, and now we are on the edge of our seats just for an update.

Tic Toc...

The lack of accurate dates being provided as addressed by Jarred Land in a previous post.
The bar bones of that post is that due to the nature of the tech in the sensors and the extremely strict IQ requirement of the sensors it is impossible to gauge how many sensors will come out of each wafer that is created. No exact predictability of sensor production = No exact predictability of camera production.

In my short experience with RED I haven't seen as much neglect towards customers as with Raven customers in the past month and a half. Literally NO updates. I have two theories as to why..well..one is a theory and the other is probably just wishful thinking.

1) With the upgrade paths being introduced to the MUCH more expensive Epic-W and the new Helium sensor production the Raven is just "small potatoes" in the grand scheme of the company and making money so production on Raven cameras came to a halt to allow for the more profitable cameras and the demand.

2) This is my wishful thinking part that maybe RED has a surprise in store for the Raven cameras and MAYBE it is getting a Raven cut size Helium sensor upgrade to give the camera better low light and slightly more pixels?

Ok this probably isn't going to happen but a guy can wish while he waits. I spend way too much time on this forum haha.

I ordered my Raven during the NAB show in April and I've always been told I'd have it by late Fall 2016 so I'm still holding on hope of having it before the New Year!

Is it true these sensors take 200 days in a oven? If it is, this would be a really big explanation on delays with product.

This ain't no Sony/Canon sausage factory, these cameras a hand made. QA'ed to the shit brick house, or at least I want to hope that this is the case!

Jarred said no short cuts, he means that.

You guys should check out the DOCO on Netflix about the 3D printing business, gives fabulous insight in issues business face when putting technical shit together.

I hope you guys get sorted asap hey!

I don't know anything about the manufacturing process at RED, so I might be putting my foot in my mouth. But from a corporate marketing perspective, I agree with this assessment.

I wish your wishful thinking comes true and let me the first person to get a Raven with a Helium sensor with 5K. :D

The request for an update has been requested. Most certainly the leadership has read and/or heard the request. Nothing substantial can gained by allowing the thread to fill with conjecture.

We are at the tail end of 2016 with just a handful of days to go really. There will undoubtedly be a few more happy customers before years end but no magic pixie dust for the volumes of pending orders.

Proactively, from a business perspective, despite no visibility from RED, one could still go for strategic positioning. Which would still be case even if RED provided a scattershot delivery schedule today.

Generally, I'd not be asking for a manufacturing update, but considering that we've not seen any more RED Raven shipments since late September gives me great cause for concern and thus is why we need updated info...

Sorry I don't understand what you mean. Can you please clarify what you meant in this statement?
Thanks Richard

Okay - RED website says "ORDERS PLACED TODAY EXPECT TO BE SHIPPED IN SPRING 2017".

So all orders placed before today (the longer waiting ones :smile5: ) are shipped not later than spring 2017 - my guess would be a shipping date before march (starting month of spring). Correct me if I am wrong.

The waiting with no official update is so painful...

How do you know that none of shipped since late September?
