Sharing some b-roll from a recent aerial shoot.

RED Weapon Dragon 8K VV + Tokina Cinema Vista 35mm.

Looking forward to using Monstro 8K VV for similar shoots.

Great shot! What OLPF?

What do you think the difference would be with Monstro? Better lowlight?

That has a really great look about it... Like how "lucid" the reflections are on the buildings... Normally I associate L.A. with this hideous orange glow that stretches as far as the eye can see (when you fly into LAX), but love these "Icy" hues and crystal like tones you pull out of what is essentially a pretty challenging subject... LOVE how still the images seem (in a good way)... I think that has put a few "Demons" to bed regarding artificial light sources with very narrow (or specific) spectral out-put + Tokina Cinema Vista 35mm.

Was this shot at a special frame rate?

Thanks so much for sharing! (Really helps).

Looks mint!

Great stuff Phil.

Looks great. Just got my Tokina VV in today. Best of the affordable cine primes I've seen by far.

Incredible...

First time I put YouTube into 8k mode... despite only having a 4k monitor. I can make out pedestrians here and there. Proof that a few people walk in LA.

Amazing Cinematographer / Camera / Lens / Helo Mount Combination.

Thanks peoples. I've been wanting to share a lot of my extra aerial material from the last 4 years. Been loving the LA clips a lot.

Standard OLPF here, mostly shoot with the Standard and STH these days.

Yep, Monstro should be much better for low light.

Heh. LA is changing rapidly as fixtures are swapped out for daylight sources. Right now it's a bit of a mess over every type of light source you can imagine.

No special frame rate on this one, this is just 24fps.

Well the real question is why people are out walking at night within the city. Sometimes I've driven through there late at night and literally nobody is around which is very spooky. I've noticed on my 4K displays that the 8K material looks pretty snazzy, but that's likely due to the scaling and higher bandwidth of the encode.

That really is spectacular, Phil. I don't think I've ever seen such clarity and DR in such a shot. I'm not even sure my eyes can see that well!

I only can watch in HD but oh wow this is superb stuff. I love mixed lighting, as well. I wonder why some people are allergic to it. Not every shot you take is going to be for laundry soap. Maybe a little knowledge is a dangerous thing (I learned about white balance and now I'm woke).

I'm guessing you stopped down the lens only a bit, as the DOF would be huge once you get past 30' or so. I'd love an equivalent shot of the Art Deco skyscrapers in NYC.

People are making a mistake in using daylight balanced lights for the street. It's the worst thing for your night vision. If outdoor lights were yellow, it would be a bit better, plus you would attract fewer insects.

"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"

I know where...I just had to use that quote.

How did you keep your cape out of the frame?

Watched on the LG B6 OLed in 8K , Looks Great !!!

LG B6 OLED 4K HDR Smart TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag) is a 4K TV. So you did NOT see it in 8K.

Dell's UP3218K monitor would give you 8K if you connect 2 Display Port 1.4 cables between your 8k graphics card and the monitor.
