  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Optitron and Canon L glass

are you thinking of selling pre-marked with distance wheels? I'd buy some. There are only maybe 8 lenses that everybody uses - you coudl do it really well and have a nice engraved wheel I coudl put in my case along with the lenses.

BTW - Optitron ROCKS -
Yes that's a great idea Rob. and it will work just fine AFAIK.
So much to do, so little time ;)

I get that this is a motorized remote capable focus control system. That said, is there a detailed description of this product anywhere? It's just not 100% clear from the thread (or the company website) what the total value offering of an Opitron is & I'd like to know if its a viable alternative to the group buy follow focus underway and if its light enough to consider using with an Octocopter rig.

Thank you,
PCG

That's correct.
PC email me at the address below and I'll send you the info.
We are looking into the external motor control.
Most likely wireless only - two axis.
The lens control is very clean and simple setup- just plug in one cable.

Blair & Jacek, thx...

Hi Jacek,

We received our Optitron today and love it. We just need a cable to power the wireless receiver from the RED Aux 3.8 power out. Is that something that you sell or can direct me to the right place? We don't want to use the supplied DTAP connection.

We've made these with right angle connectors and they worked well afaik.
I'm looking into it right now b/c we had more inquiries.
There is a paralinx cable that may work and is a lot less than our cost . I'll order it and test so I can post here something concrete
Here is the link to the cable BUT it may not work. You can take a chance yourself or wait for me to check at post the results here

The cable works!

The cable works!

Good news!!
I bought the cable, tested polarity, checked the plugs, talked to Paralinx about the quick plate.
All checks out!!. The only last test is plugging it into the quick plate (that I don't have) and couldn't do the practical test.
I would say however -it's a 99% go for this cable ;-)
