Optitek Nikon Pro Lock Mount

What can I say?

What can I say?

Just put it on a RED and tested it out with a few lenses.. This thing is awesome.

Green light, all systems go, and no warranty restrictions.

Good Job Jacek.
My Hero!!!!!!
That's why they call you the FIRE CHIEF- I suppose......

Been using one for a little while, and it is like having a PL mount, except with Nikon lenses. They don't move. And the built in control for G and DX lenses is nice.

Just want to give props to Doug Underdahl and RED for providing a Nikon mount from the beginning. That allowed many of us to use our Nikon stills, and that has now led to this mount which takes it to the next level. I appreciate what Doug, Jacek, and others have done to provide such useful tools to us.

Contax?

Contax?

Thank you, Martin
Isn't Contax obsolete?
Albert, thanks for the kind words(po polsku)

Huge thanks, both to Jarred for giving his blessing, and Jacek for the great mount!

Quick question regarding installation: if I tighten the screws too much, the movement of the iris ring is hampered. If I let off just a smidgen, everything is fine. I suspect that I was just being too ambitious tightening, but I wanted to make sure this wasn't a symptom of my having done anything else wrong.

Thanks,
Tim

Please pm or call- I'll walk you through it. There still may be some "teething" issues

Contax Zeiss lenses are by far the best bang for the buck for a REDONE. Same T* coatings, sharpness and microcontrast as cine lenses of the same era. Mechanically - build quality is phenomenal, very long focus throws and feels "like butta" (butter)

And they cover full frame. Basically the C/Y lenses became the ZF/ZE/ZA lenses which became the compact primes. Obviously the CPs have the gearing and more blades in the irises, but optically pretty much the same although some of the lenses may have minor changes since I think they had to go to lead-free glass since the C/Ys were made.

Obsolescence

Obsolescence

I just looked at the major retailer sites and there are no new Yashica/Contax DSLRS or even lenses for sale. In the manufacturing world that, pretty much, means obsolete. I used to have a Yashica SLR a while back....loved that camera

From what I understand there has been a dispute between Carl Zeiss and the camera manufacturer about the use of the name "Contax". Zeiss is said to be very much interested in reviving that brand. So while there are currently no new Contax branded lenses made, there is a lot of interest for used lenses - just check "Contax Zeiss" on eBay (over 350 items right now - compared to about 20 PL lenses).

Okay, thanks, Jacek. Will do. Will these mounts fit on Epic X, or will I need a whole new mount?
