Optitek Nikon Pro Lock Mount

Getting close to production

Getting close to production

Hi guys,
At this time the drawing package is being finished to release for production.
In few weeks we'l have units shipping. There are few small mods I had to do to respond to excellent beta tester feedback. They will take this product a long way towards excelence.

If you're talking about his Optimator, I had a chance to play with it and collimate my camera at the SALT tests. I also had the chance to play with the Red Null. In a nutshell, the Optimator will be a lot more useful in the field than the Null. The great thing about the Optimator is that it is battery powered and self contained. If you're needing to collimate your camera in a dark van and don't have access to a brightly lit, high contrast scene (what the Null requires) the Optimator will make it viable for you since it's all packaged in one unit. I wasn't that impressed by the Null. It's simple and small but way overpriced for what it's worth. Just my 84 cents worth...

Thank you, Rick. I'm glad you liked it. I will ask Evin and Matt for some comments on it as well since they also used it during SALT. In the mean time you can email me at jacek-at-optitek-dot-org and I'll repy with the most current info.

How much will this Optimator cost and when will it be available?

Under $1k? :-)

Hi Shawn,
Unfortunately under 1k is just not realistic. Don't forget this is a very precise instrument with high quality optics, super high resolution target, precise mechanical parts and electronics. In order to test cameras it has to have several times precision built in than the equipment- it is testing.
Having said that I'm making sure that at least the RED version will be priced very reasonably to sell many units to owner-operators like yourself.

Does anyone have any information on the likely ship date of this mount? And whether it is approved by Red?

Ditto - very keen for an update here too, and of course with the Epic cameras looming, the warranty/approval issue is very, very important...

Cheers!
Dom.
