Optitek Nikon Mount - a Work of Art

Anybody else having trouble sending Jacek emails? Mine keep bouncing back.

Adam,
Jacek always gets it delivered. Might not be the most prompt on email etc...and sometimes seems to worry me when he doesn't answer...but in 4 years i've known and dealt with him, he always ends up coming through....so hang in there.

I received my Nikon ProLock for my Scarlet today (yay!) and mounted it on the camera following Jacek's YouTube instructions (which is for the Red one BTW)... So, I place a 24mm 2.8 on and I can't achieve focus at about 30 feet away. When I adjust my open up the exposure the focus goes from bad to worse. The focus ring does not move. (I'm using the 1:1 to check the focus)

Am I doing something wrong here? I think I connected the mount correctly...

Sounds like a backfocus issue... on my Red One I'd have the same issue with my wide Nikon lenses with Red's Nikon mount -- instead of setting backfocus to the distances on the barrel, I'd end up having to set it to whatever seemed sharp at infiniti to my 24mm or 35mm wide open (often rendering the barrel markings inaccurate, but at least the images were sharp). That being said I've tested the Optitek Nikon mount shortly on my Epic and didn't have the same problem. Should be getting mine in the mail soon and will test it further and keep you updated.

Paul two things come to mind:
Your lens is not set correctly.
Put it on Nikon camera and make sure you reach infinity
The Nikon lens is not engaged to the pin correctly.
Make sure you can't rotate the lens before you lock it.
We match the ProLock to the Red PL mount pretty closely so the flange depth should match.
Email me with questions and we'll get you sorted out.:wink5:

so... the two primes I was trying out are from the late 70's early 80's... a 24 and 50mm, both 'fx' lenses

now I tried a new 35mm g dx lens and it seemed to be ok. i can achieve infinity (and beyond!) but the focus still changes with the exposure so...I will try a few other things and report back.
