Beside's price, which would you choose?

OMOD XLR2 vs. Red's DSMC2 PRODUCTION MODULE (V-LOCK)

I am leaning towards OMOD XLR2 since it has knobs. Not seeing a lot of reviews on it though. Thoughts?

I may be an outlier but I returned the OMOD XLR 2 twice. I came from audio, so its a big sticking point with me, and I could never get the unit to work properly on my Scarlet-W. Signal too hot, or too low - popping in the recorded track. Tried direct into the unit, tried line input from my Sound Devices mixer, tried AES from my Sound Devices mixer... never really found a workable solution.

Ended up getting the normal expander and a small Sound Devices Mix Pre 6 which I can mount on an arm off my camera when I'm on the go. When I'm in the studio I still have my normal gear and just use a Wooden Camera A box into the 1/8".

Intrigued by the new Production Module - it would be great to have a shotgun mic on the camera sometimes for run and gun - and it all just work :)

I own it and it works great for me. My other camera has the new OG REDVOLT Expander Module, which is similar to the Production Module in many ways, but longer and with a hole for REDVOLTs.

At the moment, I'm mulling over swapping either:
- Both OMOD and RV Expanders for the new Production Module
- Just the RV Expander for the Production Module

The key thing is if the Production Model is the solution I prefer, I go into "one mode" pretty quickly.

Thank you for this. It was enough for me not to buy it. I think I am going to stick with my JuiceLink Riggy module. It’s done a nice job in the past and way less expensive. I may get the red module later but i find my juicelink to slund better go figure for a fraction of the price. Just have to use a 9 vilt battery.

Hi Phil,

These look very useful. Can i ask if you will be introducing ones especially for the Gemini sensor. I asking this because I have seen the Gemini sensor has quite a different out of the box look to the Helium sensor.

Best

Tom
