OFFHOLLYWOOD releases an improved OMOD XLR, the XLR 2 :

https://offhollywoodny.com/products/omod-xlr?mc_cid=7af77aaea8&mc_eid=fd8ea3d2b9

But what happens to the first buyers of the OMOD XLR? We have been waiting for these improvements for a long time ...

I have sent an email to OFFHOLLYWOOD to know if there is something planned for those who have purchased the first version.

If Mark is on the forum and can tell us what is expected...

Hey Olivier -

We will contact all owners of V1 via direct email later this month. But you will be taken care of.

Last materials we are waiting for, new audio boards and metal are all tracking to arrive before end of this month so we are on track to ship new units 1st week of October. So, upgrades can start mid October for V1 customers.

I'm at IBC now - but I'll make sure all V1 customers get an email before end of this month with details and logistics.

Does AES input do 96K -> 48K sample rate conversion (like the original RED PRO I/O does)?

Hey Mark any news on this? Thanks.

So has anyone received theirs yet?

I was on the pre-order list, not the upgrade list. I received mine a few weeks ago, and have used it already in two projects with no problems.

Any good review on the omod xlr2 yet?

I have been using an XLR2 for the past few weeks. It is pictured in one of my latest blog postings: https://manifoldrecording.com/2017/12/20/gio_lut/

I haven't yet had the opportunity to test out the AES 96K -> 48K sample rate conversion feature, but analog audio works great. Mark answers the phone immediately, which is helpful.

There's a minor mechanical incompatibility between the OMOD XLR2 and the Lemo Adapter A when the latter is mounted on the side port: the body of the Lemo A partially depresses the AES selection button, which kills phantom power and disables analog audio input on audio channel 1. (It's not quite engaged enough to activate the circuit that passes AES signals to camera channels 1 & 2.) Had the button been placed just a little further down or back it would have missed the profile of the Lemo A. The work-around (if needed) is to use a Wooden Camera RED Male Pogo to Male LEMO LCD/EVF Cable. This has a much smaller profile against the camera. Or, in my case, put the Lemo A on top for use with my old-style RED TOUCH and put the new-style RED TOUCH on the side when I want two monitors tightly attached to a single camera.

Other than that, it's pretty much what I'd hoped it would be, and I like having manual knobs to twiddle for channel and headphone gain. Much nicer when trying to manage audio than digging through audio menus on screen when one is supposed to be concentrating on the image...

Hey Michael - found the same thing yesterday when trying to install my Lemo A connector - I will look at the work arounds. Haven't used the XLR2 on a shoot yet - how have you found the audio quality to be?

I have one I’ve not taken out of the box yet. I’ve sort of gone back to recording sound off camera after my v1 OMOD had developed a fault so need to decide whether to swap back to in-camera recording with the v2 or to offload it. Whatever I decide, big props to Offhollywood for their customer service.

Happy New Year all - so finally putting the pieces together on the Scarlet-W setup with OMOD XLR 2. Anyone else not getting a battery percentage or time left indicator? I have my OMOD and a WC cable less v-mount plate attached to it. Tried with both regular v-mount batteries and Red specific SMBUS v-mount batteries and I'm getting no battery info showing anywhere...

Thanks!

WC are working on a solution. Hopefully soon.

Thanks Bob - so is it a battery plate issue and not the OMOD?

Is it just the battery percent or cant you even se the remaning voltage?
