  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Olympus ME51s Scratch Mic for Red Scarlet or Epic - tested & works!

Thanks for the quick response, BigLu. Got it on order from amazon. I'll make sure to mount it as far away from the fan as I can, at the end of the rail/handle like someone else mentioned seems like an awesome idea.

LOL
Even if you mount it away from the FAN
its not a high end MIC do not expect to get good sound quality out of it.
Expect to hear something and thats about it.
Dont get your hopes up high.
If you speak into it closely it sounds ok.
But it is no replacement for a shotgun mic or quality mic.

Best of luck and enjoy.
Luis

I know they typically recommend a right angle 1/8 inch like the A box has,
does this mic get in the way when you have a fully built camera (rails, mattebox, follow focus)?

Has anyone tried a Rode VideoMic Pro with this since it's powered by a 9V and also outputs to a 3.5mm?

Although I understand my suggestion is a little bulky, just wondering whether it works.

Zhen, I've used Videomic Pro on epic. You need a tiny cheap stereo-->mono converter/adapter for it. The epic 3.5mm mini doesn't play nice with a stereo male input. Needs mono male input.

I see. Thanks for the clarification, didn't know it was a mono socket on the epic.

Any of these solutions working with the Alexa mini that needs mic level? (currently using a zoom h1).
