OLPF, fix

Okay so i know the red team is focused on the dragon and all things that come with it but i feel like the mx sensor kinda neglected. Dragon is wonderful but honestly 90% of us have MX sensors and we all know how some little things hear and there can really help us get the desired image.. so i have a few questions
Would there be a way to change the older mx sensors to have the updated OLPF?
Ive also heard the monochrome epic has a different OLPF?
How many people would want this?

I originally believed that it was highly unlikely that RED would ignore the revenue possibilities of replacing literally thousands of Mysterium and Mysterium-X sensors in our RED Ones with an upgraded Dragon sensor.

I no longer believe that to be true, at least in the near term. It is possible, that as prices continue to fall, the economic stars may yet align in such a way that our babies will be pampered once again, but I am not holding my breath.

I dont want red to switch sensors, Just offer the new Optical low pass filter that reduces the internal bounce back effect that happens with the current OLPF on the MX and M sensors.
I think the OLPF can be removed from all Red Cameras, like any digital camera the OLPF is not directly a part of the sensor so them offering a new piece of glass shouldn't be impossible.

Hmm, There is a way, it only cost about 9000USD and then you get alot of other great things with it

OLPFs are matched to the sensor underneath. Variations in pitch would likely make the new Dragon OLPF behave idiosyncratically on MX. Don't forget that part of the OLPF upgrade process for Dragon includes a re-calibration - even though its the same sensor underneath and the physical properties of the new OLPF are "known".

IMO, the Bayer pattern reconstruction algorithms are the crux. To get max performance out of them, the physical properties of the system need to be very precisely characterized.

Let me give you a simple advice: put the IR filter in your matte box, and leave it there for every shot with R1 MX.
