  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just got off the phone with my Red rep, who said that Red would work with me, to get the payment into them, beyond the five days. Might be useful to call them. The response was so forthcoming, that it must be that all reps are aware and will accommodate. No idea on particulars, though.

One would certainly hope so. I will await word from my rep and keep my fingers crossed.
 
i put my order in the first day ready to pay....since then all i wanted was a time frame for this to happen.....now i am in the middle of a shoot, hopefully will be able to get the funds in by early next week but won't be able to drop my scarlet off before the end of next week....
i am not really worried about the 5 days....9500 might not be a lot of money for some people but to others it definitely is and red can't expect us to sit on 10K for up to 3 months (the earliest timeframe given for dragon upgrades) and then give a 5 day ultimatum to pay or else.....
i am super excited about this upgrade program, i will definitely go ahead with it but i am not going to worry about a day or two...especially since the 5 day period spans a weekend.....and banks are banks....

it's estimated 5 BD "from when we receive your SCARLET-X to complete the inbound QC functional evaluation and send you the results"
i am not whining, i just need to know that window to budget rentals or find a loaner;

Not just you Manfred, we all will, my prediction for everyone who's traiding-in - somwhere from 1K to $1500 "to bring your SCARLET-X up to full functional specifications "
and don't forget to budget the best part - customs, in my case it'll be another couple grand (if i am lucky :)

I highly doubt that. 9950 should be the norm with few exception to people with damaged parts. Not scratches, and wear and tear etc.

And come on guys, have a little faith, if it takes six days to do a wire transfer RED isn't going to close the door on you. Your bomb squad rep should be able to help you out no problem. Man these upgrade programs open up an ugly can of worms, jut glad they're offered and RED is willing to deal with the headache.
 
my card company keeps declining the epic-x upgrade charge!!! even after I called and had RED authorized. damn you visa for putting more time between me and my epic.
 
Just got my RMA email! Some interesting facts
Trade in evaluation should take 3-5 days.
If RED determines any non-warranty repairs are necessary, we will issue you a service quote before we can proceed with the trade-in.
Customers in California, Washington and New York are subject to applicable sales tax for the components used to repair or replace products. Red will provide an estimated sales tax amount on service quotes. The actual sales tax amount will be calculated before your serviced product is invoiced.
For the SCARLET-X to EPIC-X MYSTERIUM-X trade-in, send in your SCARLET-X brain only. Please do not send in your DSMC Side SSD Module or lens mount. Additionally, RED recommends the use of a DSMC Front Body Cap to protect your sensor and OLPF during transit to RED. Please send your camera in with the original packaging and shipping
 
Yeah I picked up a front body cap just to send this thing in. I'd like to toss out there that my temporary bomb squad rep (normal one is out of the office this week) James L. was extremely helpful in getting me squared away today with switching from dragon to epic-x upgrade, getting me the front body cap ordered (expediting the processing time), and dealing with bastard credit card companies.

Hats off to RED for not only giving us amazing options for upgrading but for employing some real choice people.
 
Can someone clear this for me.. You get the bulk email from RED, then you contact the Bomb Squad Rep and after his/her instructions you pay?
Or pay with the instructions gotten from the rep after the order was made weeks ago?
 
I got a pro forma invoice from rep ( Sam Measure, uber helpful guy), and then paid on the basis of that pro forma. I wired the cash through expedited BACS, which they have received. Just waiting on the RMA reference to get it shipped down.

I've decided to hold off until more info is available on Dragon. I'm leaning that way now.
