My girlfriend, and a bunch of friends and I stayed on Beautiful Lake Wenatchee for new years. This was our view for 3 days. Taken with a 5DII 50mm 1.4 @ F22. 7 consecutive vertical shots, stitched together in Photoshop CS5. The actual image size is 27191x7437 pixels.

Amazing!

Nice framing and grading.

I like the last one, Gunleik.

Left my knife open while working on a project and grabbed still since I liked the reflection.

Nice thing about shooting on the t2i is you can turn around and use it for production stills. Shot with the excellent 18-55mm IS kit lens.

Up until now all my posts in this thread have been from my medium format film camera. I've finally caught up with this millennium, and got myself a decent DSLR. Here's the results:

Very nice shots Austin. Bet you like being able to experiment at what must feel like warp speed compared to shooting MF.

Matt, I love the deep colors on your second. Nice shot. How do you get the purple without killing skin tones? Is it WB, and does it bring amber to yellow (like the windows)?

Would the only way be to pull the talent from the set and light them with some sort of weird-gelled lights?

Thanks, the shot is lit by moonlight (taken around midnight) and processed at auto white balance (photoshop says 3750K), but I'm not sure this means much since it was a 30 second exposure at -6º F, and so the sensor was acting funny, underexposing everything a few stops and the tint is weird. There was almost no light in the house, the windows were barely lit, so the orange color could have been from a lampshade or curtains.

Not sure how to replicate that look; I like the shot because it looks unusual. Don't sweat skin tones, though, if your key light is a weird color. Balancing everything to look neutral can be boring. Check out the scene in the garage in Drag Me to Hell, where they used the mercury vapor lamps and just kept the blue tint intact, maybe making the fill a little more full-spectrum to get some color back but mostly maintaining a strong tint over everything.

Oh, I didn't think of long exposure. That explains the trees in the back. I thought it might have been very windy or you might have used a special lens. I didn't catch that you shot it with the kit lens. I suppose this would have to be shot as day for night then to get the sun as the moon, but then you lose the light in the horizon... Thanks.

A couple shots from a recent weekend shoot that was just for fun, out on an old abandoned military base.

This one is my favorite.
