  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Official Post Your DSLR Still Photography Thread

Paul, stop lying we have Photoshop too. :) It looks so fake! Crazy weird how it is so centered. Epic photo! Really wild stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Haha! :D You got me thinking though, how long it would take to recreate this real shot as a purely CG one? I mean, the backlit clouds, the atmospheric interactions, the tonality of the rays themselves... amazing that Nature can create this so effortlessly that we are awestruck when seeing it for real.

I shot a bunch of shots of this amazing sight, I jut felt this one best showed the point where the rays were at their most defined and beautiful.

Given that it was taken in Japan, the land of the rising (or in this case, setting) sun, it felt surreal and magnificent that I was lucky enough to see it and capture it to share (on a movie job no less!).

As Tom can also attest, Nature is the most awe-inspiring subject to film and photograph. For me, sunsets and their amazing light patterns are some of the most gorgeous things I have been lucky to witness.

That photo was one of those moments where you cannot help but be humbled at the beauty around us, if we choose to see it.

Here's a similar sunrise shot I got a couple of years ago, again whilst on a Red shoot!!

No Photoshop yet. Just reduced the file from an 18mp image to 1200 x 800. Shot on Canon T2i. Atlanta, GA. :}

I just want to no one thing..
How do you guys post these large images..

What's the trick.

I seem to end up with low res thumbnails.. if i do the attachment way?

instead of doing an attachment, you upload the image to your own server or photobucket, etc like mentioned above and click this icon:
insertimage.gif

It will bring up a text field where you paste the url of your image and it will embed it directly into your post, wrapping it in IMG tags.

Alternatively you can manually do the same by wrapping your url here[ / IMG] (without the spaces).

Later,
Jason

Thanks Jason.. Still a bit over my head..
Photo-bucket is obviously a app... or website? \

I feel like a forum novice.. to many hours learning edit and composite programs I think

Thanks again.

Shot last night in Shinjuku using Canon EOS7D and EF70-200 f/2.8L IS USM, handheld:

I am a fan of your photographs.

Really.

It's almost a part of history for my RED#694:

Did you crop it in post Sanjin?

Once I get Epic, that EF 600mm F4 is gonna be mind blowing!

For moon shots?

:)

Great choice of colors.

It seems Flickr is protecting them from being embedded. Maybe there is a link Flick gives you when you are signed in that will allow it? Lovely grade on all of those by the way. Wish they were a bit bigger.

Yeah I will have to mess with it and see what I can do.
Thanks :)
I have slightly larger images on my website. http://photo.tehbendean.me/
