  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Odemax is LIVE!

I'd love to know how Incubator looks, if anyone with a redray player wants to give it a watch for me! haha

You could come over and see it. Can't get it through ODEMAX just yet, but we can play it on the RR...

Perhaps the RedRay is still in slow roll out, quasi beta mode?

I think it may be. As it also seems the ODEMAX launch is also in slow beta release as well as they gradually ease people into it. So as to my post above in the thread, it will *eventually* be available to all... I'm chomping at the bit here.

I'd love to see some of the great 4K content, but the player I ordered in November, which started shipping 8 weeks ago, still has not arrived. Really ridiculous.

My son, bite your tongue. Complaining about delays in product shipping is not viewed favorably on this forum. Long delays. even multiple years when it comes to projectors, are to be expected and it is far better to treat them with humor or to just accept them blindly. There is always a good reason for delay and most always you are better off because of it. Red is like a deity and to believers the deity can do no wrong. A deity works in mysterious ways often beyond the ability of mere mortals to fully understand or even comprehend. We do not need full disclosure of the whys because we couldn't handle them. My son, the only thing Red is guilty of is having unrealistic time necessary expectations. Innovators sometimes float and dream and do not have their feet fully planted on the ground. Visualize soaring with the angels. That's it, just relax, you are not alone. We are here for you. Better that Red deliver product nirvana than deliver prematurely even if the delay to the casual observer or even to some congregation members appears excessive by other company standards. You are not getting yours late, the ones that received theirs from the first batch simply got them too early. Another way of saying that is that they were beta testers. It is now unclear as to how many if any have shipped since the first batch. That info evidently is business proprietary. If a few have, that's not slow shipping around here, that's simply a sloooo beta roll out. As to Odemax, I suspect its a very small organization and they are going slow because of staff limitations. The more rollout, the more potential administrative tasks increase. As they grow, revenues will increase and so will staffing I suspect. So we need to cut them some slack. It will be interesting to see if Red ships all old and new orders in 2 to 3 weeks as their site now says. But if they don't, most of us stand united in preforgiving them because we know its in our best interests or because somebody outside of Red, say a parts supplier, will have screwed up and not Red. Let's just not talk about the sensor upgrade. There was a show and as Ted says they had to show something new and the booth was designed for a working clean room. Living on the edge isn't easy but the ultimate results to many here are worth it. I hope this helps and eases your pain. We are here for you. God bless. :)

Though acerbically written, you pretty much summed things up. But what you said is what everyone knows and accepts as the cost/benefit of doing business with RED instead of drowning in the SONY money pit. '-)

Please finish making change and pass the collection plate.

Maybe this is why they've been holding back from shipping RedRay in quantities; waiting for launch of Odemax. I see on the Red Store that"Orders placed today expected to ship within 2-3 weeks". I guess that means mine should show up any day now since I ordered on the first day that orders were being accepted last year...

Of course it means some thing. What we need are Red definitions for the words it uses which are not always within the meanings we commonly understand but are within legal limits. For example Ted after he finishes his mandatory plugging of the cameras uses the phrase not tomorrow to describe when a projector might be ready for shipping. Not tomorrow doesn't mean not the day after today, but someday. Next year, the year after, whatever. When Ted speaks its just best to ignore most of it. No sense in getting unrealistic expectations and we already know how good the cameras are and how many are using them. Actually, one interview I listened to was damaging in that he admitted Red brought the sensor out at the show knowing they were not ready but they had the booth with its clean room for sensor upgrades and had to show something. Better just to say its coming soon and here is a clean room we have for production, testing, and servicing and here is it in action. I find Red's smoke and mirrors to be rather disgusting. Red no longer needs to have buzz out there for buzz sake. Ted speak is just for the young press. Coming soon. History has shown that use to be as long as 9 months. That could change to longer or hopefully much shorter. Man. I love Red and Ted. They provide an endless stream of controversy that has nothing to do with products being sold and their technical merits.

Mark, why all the drama when you have stated you are not going to be a RED customer. Time and again you've said you will not use ODEMAX and as things stand ODEMAX is the only partner for the Red Ray Player that has been announced AFAIK.

Your drama is beginning to play more like schtick. If you really insist on constant drama, join a community playhouse... or a SONY projector inferiority therapy group.

(Consider this as tough love because I really do think that your hanging out on REDuser shows you want to belong but lack the social skills to fit in.'-)

Who is ODEMAX. No company, no disclosure, no nothing. I apply for a channel with whom, I understand that this business is a minefield, but going out without even an official company behind is some kind of unprofessional. With whom do I interact, with Mike Tyson or Jennifer Anderson? Thanks for info.

Can someone please show mark haflich how to start a thread - just make sure it is in the Complaints Department. Then he can rail on day after day about all that is wrong with RED, REDray, lasers, light sabers, movies, 4K, projectors, etc. And we can all avoid him.

Hey - I just thought of that blocking thing....

Too late Terry, I think he's been banned.

For those who are calling this "distribution," I would disagree and term it "delivery." Historically, film distribution was a process where some entity (the distributor) took care of all the details of marketing + delivering your film to theaters. As I understand it, ODEMAX is not taking on any specific responsibility for driving audience to your individual film. Thus, IMO, it is not a distribution mechanism but, rather, a delivery platform. Marketing and audience development still resides with you.
