It'll be interesting to see exactly how the sensor adjustment will work - motor driven or manual?

It will be manual.. we explored the motor driven option but the reliability and accuracy was a limiting factor, and the growth in mechanical size needed to facilitate was very unflattering..

Manual and simple is good - less to go wrong. Can see that backlash would be easier to minimise with manual drive too. Hope we can dial in repeatable numerical scale settings...

Jarred any idea on operating conditions for the Epic-X (and Tattoo)?
I was hoping I could take it with me on my next skiing trip.

We know the pro module has full size BNC and XLR....so what is on the "base I/O Module"?

Full size BNC, Mini-XLR plus Lens/RS232, Single Aux power/GPIO and timecode in/out.

well, if I ever get a RED Tattoo I am not going to rent it out.

Likewise. If I get the opportunity to beta test a TATTOO, I don't think I'll be letting too many people touch it. Definitely no rental customers!

Besides, if that happens, it's F'n playtime! I love to play, test, tinker whatever. And even if I can't be part of Stage-1 for Epic-X, could someone tell me where to sign up to be first in line to test the 645???

What cost $1200 more on the pro module? Im sorry, I missed the detail on the pro module, I checked red.com and it's not there

Since the Camera brain controls Touch Focus Tracking and traditional autofocus all mounts that have active focus control can take advantage of the AF modes.

Ah, thanks Jarred. You posted your answer three and a half hours ago while I've been out with the kids. I come back to find more than 10 pages of posts between your answer and my reply:willy_nilly:

Anyway, thanks and KEWL!

Pro I/O module looks like Dual XLR, Dual BNC (dual link?), Genlock, RS232, 2 Aux/GPIO, Timecode in/out and a LCD/EVF port.
Is that correct?

The biggest difference is Audio.. The Pro I/O has Digital Audio inputs, Plus it has full size XLR Audio Outputs ( no audio output on the base I/O ), and an additional AUX power output.

Word Clock

Word Clock

Is it just AES/EBU or is there a BNC word clock port too??

There is a Word Clock out pin in the same connector that ingests the AES/EBU digital audio.
