Any news? Wasn't the announcement the 18th?

Hello Everyone….

We are working on the official announcement and will have it finalized soon.

Things got pushed back because I had to stop everything and help Shawn Nelson with his spreader.

It will be worth the wait! My apologies for the delay.

So this is where Eric is?
I was still sending him emails at ARRI.
Good man though!

I understand the announcement is coming Monday.

Ask Jim Elias if hes considered making the Willytec MkII.
The LFF1 was a poor child of such a nice piece of kit.

I'm looking at getting one and cant find the 19mm bridge.
The dual speed knob should help with RPP short focus throws.

OConnor Announces New Camera Accessory Line

Pioneering fluid head innovator OConnor, a Vitec Group brand, is pleased to introduce a new line of professional camera accessories engineered to fulfill the needs of today’s high-end cinematography.

“For 60 years, OConnor fluid heads and tripods have been valued tools for the art of movie making,” says Bob Carr, President of Camera Dynamics Inc. (a Vitec Group business unit), “and we’re grateful for the industry’s ongoing support. The new accessory line continues the OConnor tradition of supporting the cinematographer’s art with industry-leading engineering and craftsmanship, tailored to the rapidly-changing landscape of new cameras.”

To ensure these new precision tools meet OConnor’s high standards, the company has chosen Jim Elias, based in Europe, to head the design team. A recognized name in professional camera accessory design, Elias brings extensive experience as a camera assistant to the engineering process. Another film industry veteran, Eric J. Johnston, has been appointed Product Specialist. Eric, based in Valley Cottage NY, is already interfacing with working camera people to get on-the-set feedback and integrate their needs into the new product design.

The first OConnor camera accessory– with many more to come – is a cine-style follow-focus system. Utilizing a modular design, the compact and low profile unit enables quick, tool-free mounting on standard rod systems. This new OConnor cine-style follow focus is compatible with all standard follow-focus accessories and driver gears. OConnor’s new follow focus integrates elegantly with all camera and lens systems in use. The further products in the range will be announced as they are released.

As with the entire OConnor family, the camera accessories are backed by the company’s expert customer support and service departments. According to Bob Carr, “Because the new follow focus is designed for modular versatility and compatibility with other systems, the smartly priced system should be extremely popular with rental houses and users who own a number of different camera and lens combinations.”

The OConnor cine-style follow focus will be available for preorder in March. Delivery is scheduled to begin in April.

I have a Willytec with the dual speed knob. I love it, but the dual speed part won't help you with short throws...the two speeds are 1x and 2x on the knob, not 1x and .5x, if that makes sense. This becomes apparent when you have the single speed regular knob on.

Practically speaking, the dual speed knob helps a lot on lenses with LONG throws...

I wouldn't let this stop you from getting one though!

Love to see some specs/renders of the new FF.

@ Nate: I'm hoping got make some drive-chain ratio changes to extend the throw via gearing mods/extra long speed crank etc. We'll see if I'm successful lol. Maybe a .5/1.5x speed?

Pretty cool though. Frankly, there is only one company manufacturing decent pro FF units at this time and thats ARRI (IMO). They need some competition. Good to hear O' Connor is stepping up to the plate. Nice to see some inexpensive 3rd party options though like Cinevate et al.

Nice! Looking forward to it

This weekend I will be attending the International Cinematographers Guild Mega-Digital event in Atlanta Georgia January 30th and 31st . My new best friend “Jupiter” will also be in attendance. Stop on by to get to know him; you won’t be disappointed!

Hmmn, I think there might be a bunch of satellites orbiting around Jupiter this weekend.
