Now that NVIDIA RTX 3090 / 3080 cards are becoming available (at overinflated prices!) has anyone out there had actual experience of these cards with DaVinci and Red files?

yeah, I was fortunate to have access to both an RTX3080 and an RTX3090 at list prices. I started with upgrading my dual GTX1070Ti system to an RTX3080. Having gone from a combined dual card 16Gb of GPU memory to 10Gb with the 3080, processing power went up, but, with RedRAW I would run out of GPU memory in short order. It would playback for about 5 secs on Davinci Resolve before it would choke and crash.
Having experienced this frustration of having gone from hesitating playback with the 1070 to no playback with the 3080, I opted to sell the RTX3080 and go with the 24 Gb of the 3090. It was a good move. The 3090 runs significantly cooler than the dual GTX1070 setup, plus, I get full realtime playback. I'm really pleased with the performance of my Win10 system with Resolve and RedRaw.

This is an old thread by now, but I just swapped out my 2080 ti for a 3090 founders edition, with an 11th gen i9 and 128gb ram, and Davinci now runs perfectly smooth, even with 8K V-Raptor footage. If you can get your hands on one via one of the many queuing systems, I'd highly recommend the 3090.

Only time I get stutters is when I introduce a NR node. I'm starting to wonder if a second 3090 would be overkill
