Now that the visually attractive but functionally illconceived mattbox is off to the side, what about the status of the Red Lens Motor? Red doesn't talk about this too much, but my deposit has been sitting there faithfully for a long time. Is it time to pull the plug here as well? I agree with those who think Red should be focusing on the cameras and not get enamoured with the bells and whistles that other companies do well. I don't want to go Arri if Red's motor is around the corner, but I can't wait too much longer.

So, is it a deal or no deal?

I believe so. Even if RED does actually come out with their motors, I don't see why you would pay more when the VFS motors seem to be pretty good.

yeah... I seriously doubt that Red should be making lens motors too...why on earth do that when their attentions should be TOTALLY on their 4K cameras and so on. Let the other companies like viewfactor handle that stuff...

I am pretty sure that Red's motor was going to be VFS's motor, but now I'd be really surprised if Red wasted their time doing one since there is a good solution at a good price.
