  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

November 3rd logistics...

I'm extremely excited to be attending this event- it will be an honor to be in the same room as the people changing the Motion Picture Camera industry single handedly....can't wait to hold the Scarlet in my hands for the first time.

I'd love to see a webcam shot of the studio when the announcement goes up and the sound of the room.

That would be as close as one could get as being there and this is, after all, a very global community ful of folks that would love to see that. :)

The announcement must be HUGE because this will be the biggest RED event ever...and it's not for an EPIC cam....

Do you plan to stream live video from this event online ?
 
I'm so excited, for a short time i thought about visiting the states just for this event. ;) I think i would to this if i had the chance to grab my Scarlet at the same day.

Live-streaming would be great, thanks to anyone who plans to do this.
A official live-stream would be fantastic, a movie with impressions from this event too. I hope to see a lot of footage and pics later.

Excitement is building every day for me! I'd just about got my anticipation under control before Jim posted this thread! :)

Just a heads-up for those in the UK - the clocks go back an hour on the 30th of October and in LA on the 6th of November! It won't be such a late night after all, though I doubt any of us will get much sleep after the announcement!
 
I'm hoping to finally become a Red camera owner instead of just renter!

According to my calculations 6pm Los Angeles will be 1 am on the 4th November, now that is be bad :-) 2 years 6 months after joining on here waiting for scarlet, and you know what! outside of RED no ones knows what will be present.

Yup very very exciting can't wait. Money in the bank ready :-)

Jim and Jarred,

Just spoke with our Houston team. There may be a possibility to bring out the tricaster for the event - Is there a desire to livestream this announcement...?

When Jim first announced way back, I had a mental vision of Ted doing a live bit reviewing all the important points, showing the product, etc. However, it looks like from some of Jarred's post this may not be in the cards.

We definitely have some lessons learned from Ketch's Epic Houston to make it an even better event.

Let us know. Natalie said she would love to co-host with Ted that evening.

I don't think it's going to be that elaborate or presented. A few pages ago Jarred posted that:

Which makes me wonder what is going to actually happen? People standing around with iPhones, and when the clock strikes midnight, everyone hit's the "Buy" button, and..?

If you're at the event, I don't think anyone will be taking SCARLETS home, however, I wouldn't be surprised if RED Studio Hollywood had them around for us to play with. Actually holding a SCARLET in your hands is a possibility still. :)

I'm sure all questions will be answered then, but I would be surprised if there wasn't a prototype or demo unit(s) on hand for everybody to massage and grope post announcement. I could be wrong though. I absolutely don't know if they will literally be available the moment of the announcement or not.

Red is full of surprises though. I'm sure there will be more Red than Scarlet on the 3rd, although that will likely be the focus.

No intervalometer. But you can specify frame rates to be whatever you want, by 1fps increments, all the way down to 1fps and roll with that.

We did see that post from Jarred. However, I can still see Ted verbally going through all the "post points". I can see getting some reactions from participants in the studio about the amazing form factor (think similar to last year's NAB), I could see us fielding questions from postings on RedUser live.

From a production standpoint, it could be really exciting and a way to get more info out around the world very quickly. Personally, I think there will be alot of Q&A demand. RedUser participants can always find a "one-off" scenario they want answers to...

Maybe Jarred can provide a indication...I know other folks have emailed him directly and he is busy.

Scarlet: There is only one burning question I and maybe thousands of others will have Nov 3:

1. When can you ship it?

Technically it will be superior to Canon or others. Price will be influenced by the 5DIII and GH3 in queue so that will also be a non-issue. Getting the product in hand by a specific date, by the thousands is the major challenge. My hope is that the announcement zeros in on fulfillment. We all know RED has the coolest products on the planet. Get them in our trembling little hands please!
