  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

November 3rd Contest

LOL...

You guys need to stop this before Google index all this stuff.

Not good for people looking for good information on RED products.

It's no fun when people get the wrong info and expectations.

See you all on Thursday?

Whatever it's going to be I think we need to keep in mind that it will be one of the biggest, most important events in cinema history. Its all about N3 now, gentlemen. It's true, this piece of hardware TRULY is part of our souls. LITERALLY. This had been proven.

SCARLET replaces RED One (discontinued production)

S35 sensor in interchangeable, 2/3" in fixed.
4k resolution with HDR-x.
In-camera playback.
1080p depth field mapped video in both fixed and interchangeable, 60fps
120fps in both, 180fps burst
$14k for both (base package)

Let's keep this thread limited to Contest Entries please. Going through a billion posts looking for entries will be a task

Name: RED SCARLET

Fully Replaces RED One
RED One Production is Discontinued and RED One Users can "Execute" their One's for a Discounted SCARLET

S35 sensor Interchangeable
4k resolution with HDR-x.
4k - 120fps
Same Housing as EPIC and compatible with all EPIC accessories
Full Upgradeability/Rebrand Path to EPIC (5K, 300fps, Dragon Sensor, ...etc...) <- This will be the bomb that RED will drop on the 3rd that will revolutionize (REDvolution) the whole industry... The "RED Enhancement Initiative"
A "Welcome to the Family" card from Jim and Jarred
$15,999 for Brain only

The premium people are paying for is the camera's upgradability... or making obsolescence obsolete. When you take this into account, it's an absolute smoking deal/investment (although I can't afford it).

By sticking to only two cameras that share the same housing (simplifying production-line logistics and capitalizing on economies of scale), not having two different sensors (2/3" vs S35), and having the SCARLET fully upgradeable to the EPIC, RED can put more focus on R&D specific to its core competencies and push ground-breaking digital cinema technology to new heights over a shorter period of time, staying well ahead of all the competition.
