Will the Redmote and Redmote Pro be released around the same timeframe as the bomb evf? Well any modules for that matter?

Jarred mentioned that the Bomb EVF was already in Beta testing. And since it's REDOne compatible it'll probably be released before any other scarlet accessories. Redmote is part of the fixed package which is the first scarlet to ship so I imagine they'll both be available at shipping.

I don't think any red employees have commented on shipping times for scarlet pro yet.

The REDLink wireless interface, mentioned above, is that only operating between the REDmote and the camera? Or are there other configurations that allow operation through a wireless dongle and software? Can anyone specify more about the wireless characteristics of this system? Range? Interference expectations? Frequency bandwidth?

Also mentioned above, the camera can be controlled via Gigabit Ethernet. Is this just another way to get the control signal to the REDmote or can this cable be run to a computer with a software remote control interface?

3D Redmote

3D Redmote

I don't think this is asked before but in 90 pages I'm not sure...
1. I know it's possible to connect up to 5 REDmote to the same camera but is possible to connect 2 brains to the same REDmote for 3D applications?

2. Is in the RED plans to build an output module for HD wireless monitoring?

Can't wait to have our Epics here...

Epic and Scarlet will have a much more universal implementation of HDMI than the RED ONE has :)

Can you tell us what implementation of HDMI the Scarlet will use? 1.3? 1.4?

While I'm thinking of it, can you reveal what functions we can access over RS-422 on the Scarlet? Maybe this is minutiae.

Thank you.

My first post here!
Fantastic announcement, can't wait for cameras to come out!

One question:
Could you Jarred please take some more pictures of the body of the scarlet, kinda 360 view of it!?

Max, Norway

Through the UI also.

More on it later. It's purpose is to provide the flexibility to control the cameras rather than stream video.

Hmm. So my ideas for streaming audio monitoring on redmote are probably unfeasible then if it only supports RedLink.

Shame. Thought I spotted an interesting possibility there. I guess it still could be done through wifi with another bit of kit though?

Thanks!! Great news!
Can the RED LCD's be placed anywhere on the Scarlet's body, say where you would normally have the RED EVF?

Yes. It is all very modular. Just get a longer cable if the standard one is too short (can someone from red tell what maximum length is?). It doesn't have to be on the camera at all.

[Edit: There's a 10ft/3m EVF cable in the RED store]

All these anouncements are awesome, but I'm a bit lost on one point :

Given that the Scarlet now has so many high-end features that were initially only available on Epic, what are the differences between Epics and Scarlets now ?

There is a $21 000 price difference between a S35 Epic and a S35 Scarlet.

Are the higher frame rates and bitrates the only differences ?
120 fps at 3K on Scarlet (+ 150 fps burst), Redcode 100
160 fps at 3K on Epic, and 100 fps at 5K, Redcode 250 ?

Did I miss something ?

I will be looking forward to an answer to this one.

I thought originally the Scarlet was supposed to be a low-end camera, and Epic was going to be the new RED One on steroids...

Instead, looks like the Scarlet is the new RED One (with a lower bar for entry, as far as price goes), and the Epic is the... What? New Panavision? Does RED expect to sell a lot more Scarlets than Epics?

Also, it's almost as if there's room for a third category towards the low end now... Yeah, that's the thing I keep saying, and I just couldn't shut up now, could I.

By the way, I'm amazed by all the announcements. The user interface is very promising, and there's such a shortage of companies who get that one right. Can't wait to shoot with one of these cams some day.

Yes, when docked to the back of the camera (or module stack), it disables its wireless transmitter and becomes a direct communication device.

Could it not display a video stream in this scenario then?

there has been no mention of it or sign of that on either fixed lens or mini primes, and if it was going to be I think they would have told us today.

I think the oled you are referring to is only going to be on the RED Electronic lenses which I dont know if they have said when they are coming out and I am pretty sure will be for s35mm or ff35mm sensors

correct....

Shame, I really like that feature on that lens, but I guess at this kind of pricepoint you've got to draw the line somewhere right?

Anyway, there is always the Redmote Pro which could probably give a focus puller similar functionality - especially if the ring round it's dial had an OLED but also just on the screen.

So I might be missing it, but is there any XLR's on any of the Scarlet bodies or is that contained in one of the Accessories?

Second, what is the data ratio for the REDCode 100!

Finally, is the scaled 720 and 1080 mode a full frame or a down res?

REDmote

REDmote

For example let you pull focus...

REDMote Pro

REDMote Pro

Can anyone tell me what the Redmote Pro does that the Redmote doesn't?

The RedMote Pro has the knob on it that supposedly can function for focus pulling! Would be nice it you could set to iris to!????

Wouldn't the follow focus have a hole in the middle for the speed crank? Not that would be totally necessary, since it is a remote.

1. Yes on page 30 or so it was confirmed.
2. Would be cool to add a wmv/h264 streaming encoder and then transmit over wifi.

Yes Pro IO module has full size. Standard IO module has miniXLR

Second, what is the data ratio for the REDCode 100!
Variable based on image content. Also variable dependent on frame rate I imagine.

Finally, is the scaled 720 and 1080 mode a full frame or a down res?
Yes.

Fantastic news and thread Jarred....

Though I was not planning on updating my RED in a hurry... I'm please to realize that if I stash a $20 bill in my boxers drawer per day from now until July 2010, I could purchase a Scarlet for $3k..... heck, that's only $100 lap dances!

The sad news is.... what the faheck do I do with my Birger and impero...... I'm guessing it's resale value has just dropped through the floor and into my secret sex den.

Oh shit.... I just realized this post is google-able.....
