Me too. The only thing that would be better would be a screw on C-mount to RED mini-PL mount adapter. Hard to tell if the mini-PL is big enough for this from the photos. If it is that would be best as you could adapt a good C-mount zoom to mini-PL for use as a handy complement to the mini-primes. Are you listening RED TEAM? :bigear: Is this even a possibility?

can you link a few good C mount lenses?

thanks

....

OH, and it comes with FREE SOFTWARE to process the RAW files and images

could anyone give a QUICK overview of how this works? like render times, workflow?

I know this may seem off topic, but as one of the many who are going to ENTER the REDverse with Scarlett, I think this is a good place to have at least a brief overview or link to something understandable.

and if REDverse is an original, i claim it, lol. At least until RED decides to make it hard to carry on planes and names it the RED BIG BANG... ha

so that all makes sense to me, and seems pretty badass. The process is the same with or without the red rocket, right? Just mucho faster with it?

How do you get in line to buy the Scarlet?

Given a thread search of the 134 pages, I didn't find answers, which means it's probably common knowledge.

Still, I have to ask:
1. Are preorders an option with Scarlet? Will Red accept deposits? Any idea of timeline?
2. Or is the strategy release date sales only?

I understand if existing red owners get first ordering: still, any news will help sort out 2010 purchasing. I'm sure the first run will sell out immediately, be it preorder or day of release. Any info on how to buy is helpful. (I've only bought from retail channels)

all forthcoming.

most likely you will order it through RED (i.e. the RED store online) and get a serial number, and they will ship it to you - but they're not taking orders yet. we should find out more as time progesses. stay tuned for future announcements and updates.

I know it was mentioned that a redmote would come with every brain, but I had the following question...

Will the 2/3 interchangeable brains come with any of the following:
-Side cf module
-Power cord (to plug in ac)
-A lens mount (perhaps miniprime?)
-Redmote (just to make sure)

Any info on any of these would help a lot.

Only the Fixed Kit comes with a redmote.

Hi Alex, I certainly have never seen RED say a REDmote was coming with every brain. Do you know where you heard this?

The only thing I have heard RED say could possibly come with the brains is dumb lens mounts. Probably PL and mini-PL. Not 100% confirmed by any means.

Jim said this after the Nov. 13 announcement last year. As far as I know, it hasn't been changed. Myself and several others on scarlet user remembered reading this.
Hmmm. A c mount may be of great use to me. PL, perhaps not so much...

I didn't think the REDmote had even been announced last year...?

Though I don't remember him saying this anywhere, I do know that even what was spoken in the last 2 weeks can change. This means that whatever Jim said last year, can also change.

BUT, I haven't heard either way, so...

I don't think so - in fact, I was almost positive that the Scarlet kit would come with a side handle instead (since it has some controls and also fits a battery) and I was disappointed because I wanted the REDMOTE and I would have had to pay extra... So the news that the Fixed kit was coming with the kit was awesome (and completely surprising news) to me.

It was in fact said then. Many missed it, but several did read it.

I was taking a look at the Nov 30 specs again, and it does seem to suggest that the cinema is 'brain only' which is in direct contrast to the fixed above it, which notes redmote included. I think this means that they have moved away from that idea for sure. :(

However... I've identified a truly 'basic kit' that would only cost 5 grand to have an up and running cinema. Here it goes...
-Cinema brain - $2750
-Side CF - $500
-Redmote - $550
-CF Card - lexmark 8gb - $150
-Lens - 16mm Miniprime + Raynox 6600 - or - canon mount + sigma 30mm 1.4 + Raynox 6600 - $1100
-Power - cord included with brain, extension cords to get farther from car ;)
-monitor - use hdmi to cheap large hd monitor

Go to newegg.com for a cheap monitor/hdmi cord. Offload to a laptop on set, and you're set!
Before one puts this off as ridiculous, think about it. You get telephoto + wide at f1.4, and a working Red camera that is shooting your movie. Not much stopgap spending here. You can get a 5 inch screen, 16gb cf, additional prime, and powergrip when you're ready. Where there is a will, there is a way.
