32,000 is the record. We'll beat that on Nov. 3rd. Or at least we should.

Record was before system rebuild.

Jim

Wow, 40,000 is an insanely amount of people. Anyone know the record for Reduser?

Jim is perfectly right nobody seems to know what exactly Canon is up to, but regardless what Red is up to will be much more interesting.

I think the rumors of a 4K S35 sensor are probably right.

How that will express itself in a camera is sort of anyone's guess. Just because the sensor is 4K doesn't mean the camera will record 4K!

I'd be very surprised if Canon can introduce anything on the "high end" that makes me less interested in an Epic-X or Epic-M.

I would be interested in a very low price Canon S35 camera. Something that can do 1080/50p, with XLR in ... so I can stop using my 7D on very low budget projects.

Scarlet seems wonderful, but 2/3" sensor ... that is less interesting to me despite being superior in every other way.

So ... what I would be interested in from Canon is almost anything they might announce related to lenses.

I think they are going to announce video optimized EF lenses. That will benefit Epic and 7D users, as well as everyone in between.

I think they are going to expand their PL lens offerings .... and probably introduce a Sony F3-like camera to use them.

The potential down side? Epic's stupid sensor size could be used as a weapon against Epic. All Canon has to do is strictly adhere to the S35 coverage, and the lenses would work on a 7D or an F3, but not an Epic.

Of course ... what that really means is that I'll ignore those lenses, like I ignore anything I think won't cover Epic's sensor at full frame.

Heck, a regular season baseball game gets 32K viewers. This is a bit bigger than that. It's gotta be 40K plus

poor Canon... still, they make nice lenses :-)

One of RED's biggest assets is REDcode. I can't understand why Canon or Nikon didn't realise that years ago and buy Cineform, then develop an actual competitor to REDcode.

Not that I'm desperate for Canon or anyone else to compete with RED but it does seem like poor business strategy..

40,000 people want to see 4K digital cine camera for less than $12,000!

Is this possible?

We'll see that at Nov 3rd.

REDCODE patent is a problem for many.

6000 on now and there is still weeks to go.

It will definitely go over 40 000. Its not only the regulars who'll be here, but the dvxusers, the dvinfo users, the cinema5D users, etc. etc. Canon is making an announcement, but Red is making an announcement AND opening their orders- word of mouth will spread of the first come first served policy, and... there you go, server down... :)

I'm expecting Nov. 3rd to be the biggest announcement in the history of RED.

Jim

I am most likely in LA on Nov 3rd anyway... can we come see the announcement live at Red Studios, LA?

You can charge admission and have the REDUSER site projected on the big screen while you type the announcement from the RED CAVE!

Now that would be an EPIC PARTY!

Oh snap! That's big.
