We have no idea what Canon is going to announce. It is thrilling actually.

What a great moment in time for everyone.

Jim

Love it already. All good fun :)

Crazy Train... Ozzy.

Or: "Welcome to the Jungle" . . . Canon

I have to tell you... I live for these days. I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it.

BTW... this gives Canon a ton of time to adjust their announcement.

Jim

I wouldn't underestimate Canon. They have scores of some serious scientists and this is just at the R&D division in Sydney. I met them, spoken to them and I have big respect to their potential. They certainly have brain power at their disposal with decades of R&D.

On the other hand Canon suffers from corporate inflexibility. They keep those mad scientists on a leash for better or worse. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

And yes, they have enough time to adjust their announcement, they just don't know what to adjust it to and neigher does RED. Probably both will reach for nuclear weapons...

Funny games. ...as you said, the customers win.

One thing I'm certain its not going to happen in the Canon front is modularity- and if we are talking above 10K price points, this is absolutely essential as an economical investment. The RED DSMC concept is brilliant because of this. My only concern is, of course, the backorder situation. I do not live in the USA, and I can't help but feel we will see much more of the Canon cameras around these parts than the Scarlets (and Epics, for that matter). But this is not a "problem" for me, anyway. I've already made my first orders at Red and am not looking back. Patience is not one of my virtues, but somehow I hanged on, purchased lots of Canon glass (and luckily Jarred and the Red Team likes Canon glass by doing the intelligent Canon mount), a couple of DSLR's that provided a nice in between transition, and am ready to get in on Red. Bring it on November 3rd!

The latest conspiracy theory is that RED and Canon team(ed) up to make Scarlet the first and the best Hollywood digital cine + stills affordable camera ever.

Don't forget that RED already has Hollywood sort of 4K digital cine technology and that Canon make some of the best DSLR cameras...

Let's put those things together and you would get what it could be November 3rd announcement....

But I could be totally wrong here just before get banned again...

If you can't wait...what about us... We all have the same feeling... excitement

This date will be huge for everyone in this industry.

..... I can't wait.

Jim

From the country that brought you Bruce Willis, who was:
R - etired but
E - xtremely
D - angerous

Comes Scarlet who will be:
R – eengineered and
E - xceptionally
D – igital

Not that elegant. I should take another shot at it.

I don't underestimate Canon one bit. That's why this is so exciting!

Jim

Canon: If it's that piece of pooh hair dryer form factor they showed at whatever show recently - no worries for RED. Enclosure: square and mucho bolt holes = happiness.

Ditto on large corp inertia. RED is a ready, fire, aim company which has it's downside foshur but that risk taking approach gets shit done quicker. You don't know what you don't know until you try and fail. Innovation is about controled failure. RED seems to have a failure tolerant culture - Canon . . . is from another planet.

I hope the 3rd is a 5k day.

:)

Boxing is my passion. I like following a prize fight from training to fight night. This is like Tyson in the early days. !

I'm expecting 40,000 people online on Nov. 3rd.

Jim

I just want new cameras to shoot on, DSLR are horid but we need a good web 1080p camera for certain productions and 4k for the ones who can afford it because they need the resolution.

If canon can write code for raw one frame at a time they can do it for multiple. Not really sure if they can make a camera that kills the Alexa1080p,F3_Epic,F65

How canon can win

MkIII$3500 1080P 4.2.2 CF_4.4.4 HDMI

S35HD$5000 EOS 1080P 4.2.2CF_4.4.4HDMI

S35$10000 PL 1080P 4.4.4SSD_4KSDI

S35 $20000 PL 4K SSD

Its the only way they can knock it out of the park but I doubt it.
