This date will be huge for everyone in this industry.

Canon will announce it's very best effort for digital cinema. RED will announce Scarlet.

A powerhouse and an upstart going head to head. One day.

This is huge for everyone. Wow!

Canon on the red carpet in Hollywood and RED from the garage. Head to head.

The anticipation is incredible. A big moment for all. Really.

It will be telling in a number of ways. Canon can make a huge difference in this industry and has called for everyone's attention. We will all be watching what they are going to do. A few will also be watching what RED is doing.

This will be a great moment in time. The customers win. No matter what.

Anyone in this industry that isn't paying attention on Nov. 3rd doesn't have a pulse. It is like Ali vs. Frasier. I can't wait.

Jim

There is no doubt now that you have their game plan and know RED has the goods. Let's Rumble!

We have no idea what Canon is going to announce. It is thrilling actually.

What a great moment in time for everyone.

Jim

My bet on the RED!:)
I don't believe Canon!
If they don't give 4K again in Mark III (or in a new camera) it will be falling!

The "fight" might be a conflict for corporations and fanboys, but it's a win-win for the industry. We get two new choices, each suited to a certain kind of project and workflow.

As far as the "winner" is concerned... I think it boils down to usability. Who makes a camera with media options the average user can afford? With workflow suitable to a MacbookPro and some patience? Red is for professionals, Canon is good enough for everyone else.

Maybe it's not about who makes the "better" or more popular camera, maybe they each occupy their appropriate territory.

For the end users (all of us), this will be brilliant. It's been great to have Jim and the entire RED team define 4/5K and give us the tools to do amazing things with at an unbelievable price, but this now ups the anti. Who is this going to benefit? Us - the users / consumers.

I think come Nov 3rd, you'll need to choose your team (if you haven't already) ;-)

Team RED vs. Team Cannon

Bring it on Jim!

I have to tell you... I live for these days. I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it.

BTW... this gives Canon a ton of time to adjust their announcement.

Jim

Fuck it . . . don't wait. It's late, we're all up and can keep a secret. I say open up the RED Store for 2 minutes and let your late night drinking buddies pre-order the pretty, pretty little thing.

2K long GOP for $35k is my guess on the Canon announcement

well, the specifics may be wrong, but it'll be more "we don't get it, so here's more of the same crap. If you want something new, talk to the DSLR division" for sure

Ketch is here - the party is complete! Let's open the Store!

Jim, it is mighty polite of you to let Canon make their announcement first. It could be that after 6:05 PM Pacific Time, nobody remembers what that announcement was about.

You know who have a load of loyal customers that will stick with you. I say bring on the fight. This one battle that I don't want to miss...

Thankyou for all you and your team have done Jim. This day simply would not have come for many more years atleast if it was not for you all. You are transforming and empowering one of the worlds oldest and most precious artforms. Storytelling.

So many mor stories will be told and heard thanks to you and your wonderful team.

The 3rd will be historic no doubt. And I am excited and grateful at what canon is finally doing.
But some things transcend even specs. Just like a great story can transcend its form limitations. Reds is that great story with heart.
For your vision and commitment - it will not be a specs battle - though I will enjoy the bout immensely - it will be a decision to align myself with those who I mOst respect. RED.

Thanks to you all,

Sincerely
Lliam

As a camera nerd and somebody passionate about imagery I couldn't agree more.
