  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Not Just a Pro-Res Module ....

then a redlogfilm 4444 pro res module...

raw = sometimes is not needed, or wanted.. i can easily live without raw or the converting process..

some people need it and want it.. thats fine.. but a module that spits out a log 4444 pro res or other codec that works shoot-edit.. i would be absolutely stoked with, and shoot 90% of my work on.. the other 10 percent would be if and when i do a film out or just need that extra resolution

Maybe then a RED camera isn't what you ideally need, plenty of video camera alternatives out there.

Personally i have my Red MX (and stage 2), an XDCAM, a 5Dmk2 and even the ol GoPro. I also hire in as needed and use what is the best option for each shoot and that suits the budget etc etc. I don't ever think there will be one camera that suits every purpose and sits as the no1 pick for every job. But in saying this, i would use the Epic more if it had a full debayered 1080p module with Prores, dnxhd etc. In other words...a 'kind of' Red Rocket as a module on board. Guess we'll wait and see as the noises are there from Red so we'll just see. But i would much rather see the cameras get out and just as importantly all these accessories we keep hearing about actually being available with the cameras before different modules as above.

We have both. And right now, clients choose the Alexa for the workflow (and because the AC is actually able to navigate the menus) - and not necessarily because of image quality. "Good enough" is actually good enough. And these are mostly clients used to shoot film.

Cheers,
Fred
