Howdy,

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere in official red info, but does a Red One without the MX upgrade impact the price for the stage 3 upgrade? Until now I was just assuming a working camera, but might be a bit naive on that.

Thanks,
J.D.

Slightly off topic, but why are all these audio boards being replaced? Mine needed to be replaced, and it was working just fine 2 days before I sent it in. Just wondering what the issue is. It seems like a lot of people need to get new audio boards.

I'm not sure- it could be a hardware change that happened after release. I think I remember something like that happening just before we got ours (number 291) but I assumed that most of the early numbers were part of stage 2.

Nope. All customers with the original version of the audio board were contacted by RED and given the opportunity to have their board upgraded - at no charge.

Gotcha- thanks for the info Brent. I imagine then there may be some people that have just damaged their camera during use somehow and the audio problems are all just coincidence. I know in our case- our camera is 5 years old, so who knows what could be wrong.

However on a side note I've been editing some footage that I shot just before packing the Red One up to trade-in and I have to say I am still in love with that camera and the amazing job it does. the footage is just a little interview, but everything looks so rich. Just amazing. Sending the camera back was like packing my baby in a box. I'm heart-broken, but getting an Epic-X will be amazing all over again.

We had our audio board replaced by RED then, but it needed repair when we sent it in for stage 3.
We used separate audio a lot recently, so it may just have been damaged by static discharge or whatever without being noticed. But the trade-in is still a great value never offered by any other company I know of.
