Great flare performance for VFX—and they also hide shoddy VFX work since it’s out of focus. These were really pretty in person! They do have that wrapping edge distortion wide open but overall if you already like the Athena T1.9 lenses, the Aureus ones go to T1.4 for that extra bokeh and low light oomph! The flare performance was also very good even at T1.4 and, for us, that equates to being very good lenses for VFX use. The only thing between the T1.9 and T1.4 lenses is perhaps the user's taste if you want that T1.4 look and performance, otherwise I think the Athena's remain a very compelling option for many filmmakers.
