hello
I have been thinking about a device that will conect your regular nikon lens to the mount and allow shift/tilt/swing ajustments, using the coverage differance of the full frame still lens and reds smaller sensor. the pc lenses are slow and expenssive so it would be great to have such an option.one preblem is the focus to infinty. maybe it can be ajusted with the back focus ? I asked Douglas Underdahl about it and he had some interest. but the more demand there will be, the better chances it will get produced.
i would be happy to know what you guys think and how manny are intersted in such a device
ariel

thanks
I do not want to produce one, i just want to have one. the clairmont is very expenssive. didnt hear about the pl baby but im talking about nikon. pl needs specially made glass for shif/tilt because the regular ones dont have spare coverage

um, maybe this is a dumb question, but why not buy a nikon tilt shift lens? If doug does make such a system, I'd def be interested.

lens babies is nothing like a tilt shift lens. the bokeh sucks a$$ and everytime you want to change aperture, you have to open the whole thing and change the aperture slide... oh yeah and the quality just well.. sucks like hell too.

the lensbabies: nice but does not have enough capabilities. its only swing/tilt. it misses all the ajustments that keep the lens parralell to the sensor which are the most important ones( or did i miss something?)

why not buy a nikon tilt shift lens?

they are slow and expenssive and you need to get the whole set again.(regular for large apperture and the pc)
i want one device for all my regular lenses which will also give all the ajustments found on a view camera front

There's also he excellent Arri Shift & Tilt system. We have one in Rental.

If you have a nikon set up you could always go for a PB-4 bellows system with any nikon lens on the front.

The PB-4 had a tilt/shift built into the front of the bellows, could use them for macro too.

They are cheap ($200'ish), but a bit ungainly for many purposes.

Thanks ED. this is exactly what im looking for. although i looked at such bellows i somehow missed it and thought there are only extentions for macro.
why do you think it is not so usefull? I think about keeping lines straight without convergence and controling depth of field indipendent of your f stop mainly. ofcourse there are other situations where you would like to use it as well. do you know if the pb 4 is availabe new?
thanks

The PB-4 is no longer made new (as far as I know). But you can pick up sets that have hardly been used fairly easily.

The main problem with the bellows is their bulk, the PB-4 (being designed for a still camera) has a sliding base platform as well as the bellows rails (see this ebay auction for photos). Which makes it more cumbersome than using a lens designed for tilt/shift.

I toyed with the idea of buying a set of PB-4's to try and shoot a short using the minature faking approach to tilt/shift (see here for examples) I still might.

i think i will handle the size, but what about focusing to infinity? i think its impossible because the lens is not at the right distance from the sensor.
why do you need a set of them? one or one for each camera is not all you need?
thanks alot

Focus to infinity isn't possible with many lenses on bellows, that's true.

When I say 'a set' I mean a single bellows setup, kinda like when I say 'a pair of trousers' to mean a single garment. Sorry for the confusion.

I actually emailed them for some details and pricing on april when i ordered my camera but got no reply. it really seems lightweight and flexible. does anybody actually own or have used the proshift adopter?
