  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The problem with original nikon mounts is that, the lens is not 100% fixed in the mount, i hope that the red team check this before selling the mount, P+S is aware that the orig mounts are not good for focuspulling work as the lens will shift in the mount, so there is a new mount designed by P+S for the pro35 with nikonmount en 35digital lenses

That's good to know- we are planning on saving some cash and using our Nikon primes for awhile.
 
Notice they offer Either imperial scale OR metric scale, not both on the same lens. Like Jim says, these markings need space to be big enough to be clearly legible, hence there's only space for one type of scale.

When I get my RED I am planning to visit P+S Technik GmbH office in München and to custom order the mounts which are from the above list in a yellow colored text.
 
So if the Red Nikon Mount doesn't ship this month, could one use this P+S PL-Nikon mount instead?...Also what are the mounts going for?

and the Nikon mount 236

Total 861 EUR

Am I reading that right?
 
Also is good to know that the official P+S Technik reseller contact in US is ZGC, Inc. from New Jersey at sales@zgc.com.

This sounds really interesting in the interim. I can personally see the need for the Panavision, Contax, and B4. But why would you want a PL mount if it's standard? I'm guessing because you have to change out the Red mount.

Does this indeed work with Red right now? Sounds a lot cheaper then the Red B4 mount and much more versatile. I'll email them. Thanks Sanjin. Udaman!

This could be an alternative PL mount option just in a case...that something is not working well.

For my point of view the most interesting option are Panavision PV mount and Leica M lenses possibility to mount on RED.

I just have got HAIRSPRAY DVD and enjoyed a lot of Panavision Primo lenses look on my old Panasonic plasma 42".

As long as you have a IMS mount on the RED - YES.

But the mount, and probably the body itself had to be reworked/modified to have the IMS connection in the first place, if its possible at all.
The adapters have a specific standardized length. Therefore the IMS has its own FFD - be prepared to mill your RED front.

Nonetheless, P&S is specialized in such modifications and does them with pristine quality.
 
I see it like this:

You could dissassemble the RED PL mount, then P+S Technik can take a measurement from the sensor to the edge of the camera hole/body and then they can do a mechanical custom to attach IMS to the flange focal distance (FFD) for any of the mount type IMS was offered.

The flange focal distance (FFD)
"This is the distance from the mounting flange—the metal ring on the camera and the rear of the lens—to the film or sensor plane"

interesting, i talked to them one year ago about modifying Nikons to PL for RED, the guy on the phone was quite harsh and replied "why would i want a modification for a camera that doesn't exist" ... times are changing ;-)

To use IMS P+S Technik mount obviously you have to swap RED mount.

It is the same as with Birger EF mount.

Hopefully P+S Technik engineer could mechanically "adjust" or simply make IMS option that fits to RED.

I'm in Ottobrunn/München in February/March with appointment to have a look for possibility.

Maybe somebody with RED could even ask earlier than me (from Germany)...?
 
At this time there is no way to put a P&S mount on the RED. I suppose P&S Technic could make their own IMS mount system for RED if they wanted. They would have to make an IMS mount that attaches to the RED One just like the RED or Birger mounts do. I would think that the ball is in P&S's court on this one... I don't see why they couldn't obtain the specs / from RED and start offering a RED version of their IMS system.

As of right now, the only way to get Nikon F-Mount lenses onto a RED One is to wait for RED or Birger to deliver the mount products they have announced.
