Too bad the Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Lens isn't on that list. At least the top lenses definitely are.

We really appreciate that you kept working on it until it was right.
OK. So so I have this right: the list of lenses under tech specs are the only ones that will auto-focus, but iris should work with everything?
Will that list grow? I assume it will.
I guess I can assume that the RED Nikon mount can only control electronic apertures? In which case there is still a benefit to using the Optitek?
Thanks!
Nope. There is actually an electronic actuator in the RED mount.. a little motorized rod that mechanically moves the little lever that the other 3rd party lens mounts use a ring to move... so as long as your lens has that little iris tab, electronic or not.. it will move it.
It really is an engineering marvel this mount.
Jarred, Are we able to use Non-AI, AI and AIS Lenses with this mount?
likely.. it was a pain in the ass so if nobody else has done it I can understand it.. but it sure was well worth the effort. Im not sure if we are more proud of doing this first.. or for inventing the first double lock system for still lenses.
I think Canon breech lock had you beat there
Very pleased to see this. Needless to say, ordered! Is this shipping immediately for orders today? Deliveries next week?
Thanks big man!
Mike
The Breech Lock wasn't on the camera side.. it was on the lens. We have double lock on the actual camera mount.![]()
Any lens not on the list is an unknown.. just like the Canon was.. until it gets characterized, you just need to get lucky.
And yes.. we will start characterizing 3rd party Nikon lenses.. you guys should figure out which ones you want first.
Jarred, Are we able to use Non-AI, AI and AIS Lenses with this mount?
In theory yes...
