  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Newer REDCINE-X...

Hey guys, been a long time since REDline- I've tried the "install REDline..." several times and just keep getting "Unable to start REDLine. Error 0" in the console on both a Mac Pro and MBP when I enable the REDline option. I have wiped all old REDLine stuff (including /usr/bin) What's up?

Was able to reproduce a FCP timeline using EDL
Crashing on the FCP XML import.
HD-SDI out is working fine. Nice and easy one button click for on/off.
Very responsive now.

Dave

Exactly the same experience here. RedCine-X crash when importing XML (which Jim stated it was "very beta") but didn't have a problem with an EDL from FCP.
In my opinion, it's a huge step forward for the program!

dragging clip to timeline not working for me..

dragging clip to timeline not working for me..

Ok, am I doing something wrong..on RED CineX 321 I just tried to drag a clip down to the timeline and it won't go. MacOSX

I opened the same clip in REDCineX 262 and it worked just fine. Anyone else having this issue.

Double clicking opens it up in the viewer window, love the trim feature.

Anyone?? Thanks for the help.

Redline problem

Redline problem

So easily installed or unzipped RCX 321.
HOwever with REDLINE....and on build 320....i get a strange error that I've never encountered with all previous RCX REDLINE installs.
When i double click on REDline another window opens up and says:
"The Alias "REDline" can't be opened because the original item can't be found"

Then options of Delete Alia or Fix Alias. Usually in past installs REDline just installs. Should i go back to a previous build lf REDline and install it so that this new version can overwrite it?

See attached screenshot.

Thanks RED team in advance.

Paul, you installed older REDline, then new and it covered it then?
I'm on the road, so have no access to trying RCX until the weekend. I sure hope the kinks get worked out by then.
good luck,

Yeah, I tried linking it to the REDline provided in the last package, but I just get the 'unable to start REDline' error. Deanon?

running 64 Bit now, HUGE improvements - thanks Deanan, keep up the great work...

looking forward to deeper directory digging for sure... as a 5 Day, 3 Camera shoot gets tedious digging for R3d's. Glad its on the list!

The 64 bit version for mac crashes alot on my 4,1 mac pro running in 64 bit kernel mode. 32 bit version is fine.

It looks like the new Redline is just an alias to the older version of redline so I'm guessing no update to Redline?

ok, stupid question: how can i or can i enable 64bit with MacPro 8core? and is it possible with macpro notebook

Basically, by running Snow Leopard.

+1, multiple Rockets FTW

How many will it take for RT debayer of easy-HDR 5k RC~80? And will two be enough for HDRx 5k? Up to what RC?

I bet you don't have these answers yet, but when available. Thanks.

Deanan,

Does multiple RR engages its power to single R3D tasks?

Is there a reason why the number Gamma space options is reduced in the new version? Although REDgamma is the choice for most of the cases, still, the linear or REC709 settings are almost a must in some cases. Especially so, if the image has almost nothing else than a lot of mid grays REDgamma is too steep. If needed can send you some samples and you can try yourself.

I noticed you can save snapshots or single frames to R3D files. Are there any other programs (such as photoshop or Lightroom) that will read R3D files? I'm only on CS4 and that's not working but I thought perhaps CS5 would.

Haven't tried but it should work anywhere R3D is supported.

Can you try downloading again? There was a problem with the download in the first few hours.

Just tried a snapshot R3D but it didn't open in Photoshop CS5 either.

I'll jump in the Adobe sub-forum now and file a request to enable it in Photoshop.... imagine, all of Photoshop's colour correction tools and ACR processing power applied to Red RAW files....

DSMC indeed!! The future is bright.... :)

Yes. We're still optimizing and testing for the two rocket case and we've seen about 48fps so far (no guarantees as this is still an early feature in progress)
