  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Changes from build 90 to build 96:

Player:
Double click does fit both.

File Browser:
When dragging a clip to the player or timeline the item is added to the bin first
File list mode added

Timeline:
Copies of clips are now made instead of references to clips.
Clicking mute on the timeline will now mute audio
When a clip on the timeline is split it will no longer effect the clip in the bin.
When zooming the timeline the timeline position marker now stays at the proper time offset.
The timeline is now horizontally resizable

Histogram:
White/black bars were not properly initialized on repaint

Workspace and Projects:
Saving and restoring of workspace layouts has been added
Open clip menu option added
Open has been changed to Open Project
Crash on open project due to invalid clips in the project has been fixed
Importing a project from build 84 to the current build will no longer crash the app.

Looks and color correction:
Applying a look from the “look Presets” tool to all clips in bin will no longer cause a crash
Swapping between looks from “look presets” tool will now correctly set all sliders when the target is not “clip (in player)”
“Sticky” feeling on color correction etc on slower machines has been fixed.

Windows:
Framing tool cropping issues fixed.
Histogram is no longer always in the background
Creating a quicktime preset works properly.

Workspace and Projects:
Resize corner added to all resizable windows.

Exporting:
Duplicate Content when exporting has been fixed.
Whitebalance + Snapshot/Exporting will no longer leave snapshots queued in batch window requiring user to resume.
 
Quick question how do you zoom and pan like the old redcine

Its a sweet app! I love it getting refined.

It crashed first time I think because timemachine was running. I shut off TM and she ran fine.

I have to note: I love how fast the color correction happens!

We'll be adding the GUI for interactive framing control soon (crop/repo).

Parital functionality is in the framing tool/presets window.

For the Player:
left mouse button: pan
scroll wheel: zoom
double click: fit both

There is download and see, its pretty amazing
 
Love to be able to XML import... no rush, but would be handy for vfx shots being pulled from FCP edit. Today I had to figure out the original clip file, load that in RC-X timeline to double check, and bin for export.. Then to be safe, exported the whole take.. Not just the edited shot plus handles. All that took me at least twice as long as I would want to do, because of all the steps. I only needed one clip today.. Would be painful if I had to extract dozens..

I ask because I'd rather export image sequences with basic corrections through your color science than Apple's Color.

You guys have added enough features to this app for it to merit a Quick Start Guide and a Manual and a User's Guide and a Power User's Guide. Then some one needs to come out with a yellow paper jackect 'REDCine-X for D'

sharpen denoise

sharpen denoise

When I use the detail settings I dont see a difference when I drag the sharpen bar all the way up, I have the green square on and every thing but I dont notice it working. Also does the denoise do any harm to the image should I be using it allot and does the render times increase when denoise and sharpen are used

The "Save Window Layout" option doesn't work in Windows. It opens a file dialog box, you can type your own layout setting filename but by pressing "SAVE" nothing happens. It just closes the file dialog box.
 
OK, thanks for the new 96 build, here are some important problems (Windows) :

- it would be great to have a possibility to dispatch automatically all the windows, and if they could fir the screen (a 19" screen at least, because there are some mobile devices who can't use a 30" screen...)

- when batch-converting r3d clips from the timeline to TIF or DPX, even when the "specific folder for each clip" has been selected in the export settings, it asks for a filename and render everything in a single folder.

- it would also be great to be able to choose DPX /TIF settings (for instance 8 bits/ 16 bits)
 
I hadn´t noticed there was a manual before, looks like I have some reading to do this weekend!
