  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Zeiss Compact Primes Revised

Any of the CP1s still floating around, I am interested in an 85 from the original series. These lenses look great, I work with ZFs often so I can only imagine with more 5 more iris blades and upgraded housing that they perform even better. Although I heard (this could be very wrong) that some people have issues with the PL on the CP2s not being very secure? I prefer PL only if I can find them. C
 
Are the CP1 series with PL discontinued? I am stuck between Cp1 85 and a RED pro 85mm. ZCP I series is faster at 1.5, smaller and cheaper but perhaps the RPP is optically superior. Curious of anyones thoughts.
 
CP1 is still for sale, they are PL only, you can get it at Abel, and i'm sure there are other resellers too. CP2's are redone housing so you can put the EF mount on there, and they slowed the glass down to have matching sharpness and color/contrast shooting wide open. It gets softer wide open on the CP1's. Smaller and lighter than RPP too, and I think the optical quality go head to head. You sweet spot on the CP's, used the ZF versions quite a bit, it was so sharp every pore on the talent's face was obvious. No sharpening. They are all great deals.
 
Abel no longer carries or has any CPI in stock last i time I check, and I am sure the set will be discontinued. I believe BH might still have. Thanks for the info.
