H264 Version 1920x1080

H264 Version 1920x1080

Something for PC users please!

Here you go. I just exported from the FCP timeline using the best h264 settings and keeping the resolution the same. There are some mild compression artifacts like you would see in a trailer on apple.com. The ProRes version was incredibly dark on my Macbook Pro, but the h264 version seems to be correct. I don't quite understand why.

*** URL snipped... Sorry ***

Oh, the file is 382MB. I just noticed that the file size doesn't show up when downloading from driveway (at least for me in Safari). Also, I guess you have to delete the ".html" that it appends to the file once downloaded. I just did a full download to make sure it's intact and....it is.

Didn't you see Jim's note here?
So you should remove the link asap if you don't want to be expelled...

Will we be able to screen the full 1080p prores at our own local free screenings? In a month or so I hope to have a Portland Red screening and would love to be able to show the locals what Red is truly capable of!

Failing at being able to show the whole thing, could we at least show the trailer?

lebowski: I don't follow you.. what's wrong with re-encoding the file so PC users can view it?

It's the boss's decision, not mine. And I understand it fully. He simply doesn't want youtube style videos damaging RED's reputation. Besides, it's a copyright issue. You simply don't have the right to distribute the video.

-being totally disrespectful, or just hasty?

Holy crap...

I'm sorry about rubbing this in the faces to everyone who can't see this but the 2K footage is night and day better.. I could actually read the print on the side of the plane that said, 'property of peter jackson'

i can't imagine what a 4k file would look like on my screen

i am viewing this on a 20" Cinema Display, being piped out of a 2.33 ghz 3GB Macbook Pro With FCP 2.

oh I got ya. I was under the impression that the footage was publically released (it was) .. didn't think re-encoding it would be an issue.

oh well, we shouldn't be using PC's anyway...

:)

Sorry for snipping out the links above... But Jim specifically said they're picky and want to do a proper transcode themselves. Otherwise, I would have already posted one. Hehe. Just be patient.

yes, thats why i warned to publish prores only instead of an available codec.
But red now noticed - they will publish a H264 transcoded from the master.

but Peter's (i loved that intimacy though on that case a real one :spidy: it looks as though.. ourselves trying to show off that we know jim's cameras collection :innocent:) downrez stuff is already spreaded on the web.. :)

True... There is no way it won't leak out like that or in other forms. But I suppose we can at least try to respect RED's requests of us, as members of this community.

don't worry.. i will.. i will respect his will.. i have no way how to transcode it.. ehehehehe
