I just saw the video played with VLC (as compared to media player.

WOW Wow Wow. It's like a fog lifted. The clarity was amazing with that increased Gamma.

We need to find a solution for PC's to view quicktime with the correct color rendition. Anyone figure outhow to get sound with VLC?

Any suggestions?

aloha,

Keith

Well, Stephen (Gentle? ) I hope one day you may pay more attention to my name from anywhere...than you probably would do if mine was Jarred, for instance. :)

Did you actually read my post? Or don't you care about my hassle with the VLC and you don't give your magical tip on your method in order to put the player working properly... :holloween:

Keith, go with the Media Player Classic. It works fine!

EDIT -- Just joking! It just goes darker, not so big deal! Why doesn't the VLC play the sound? Anyone can explain me the mystery?

There's no real need to flame me (or make fun of my last name) because I recommended that Keith view the video in VLC, even it you were having problems with it. It just looks a lot less washed out on my PC.

But I checked, and I aggree that it does look better in Media Player Classic

Don't take the things so seriously, my good fellow. As I said, I was just kidding with you. Nothing serious. This community works like a family, a big family of gentlemen ;-).

Cinema is not just picture or motion picture. The sounds counts. PJ knows it. As well, JJ or JL.

I meant the sound counts. The sounds, a few times.

You can always adjust it in your display controls temporarily for a specific application window.

PowerStrip is a great tool for making custom settings for your Video Card. It has Gamma controls, Color Temp, allows access to hardware level controls, and loads and saves the customized settings. Free Trial:

It's just a giant prank Jarred's playing on you.

I really enjoyed the clip, a real godsend for those of us in the hinterlands. I have not had the time to really scrutinize the footage yet but I appreciate everyone for pointing out specifics and the subsequent follow up by RED.

OT---Hey Brook, I am really glad to see your website up. I really like your layout and especially your use of icons and how they translate your various skillsets--very direct, very clean. Of course, my favorite is RED Ninja-- because what the hell else would it be !!: :ninja:

cheers,

Andrew

BTW, I would really would like know your various rates and have that discussion so I can have some ideas for various types of future projects--- Do you like to fly?

I have not had the time to really scrutinize the footage yet but...
How dare you, Andrew? :) This is the first product ever released shot on RED. It's a trailer but a trailer is a product anyway.

I know, I was joking too. But that post did sound kind of nasty until you added the little disclaimer.

Anyway, I would really like to see the full film (1K is fine). If RED were to post a torrent I volunteer to seed for a while (possibly a few days depending on certain factors).

Heheh, I was going to make a smart ass comment about the damn story getting in the way of a great product demo... I have been slacking a little on my RED habit, so I have to stay up all night and get caught up with all the developments--- BTW-- I am really happy about Zakeree joining the RED Team, I just think it's really funny that I found out over at XXX.com with Stephen's post calling my attention to it... So congratulations Zakeree, that is great! Now just a little more reading before my three hour nap.

Windows Media File

Windows Media File

My laptop is choking on the file, and it usually plays HD WMV files just fine.

Jim, Jarred, please consider making a WMV version directly from the source so the Windows guys don't have to recompress the QT file to get smooth playback.

Thanks.

?
My PC and Mac play the file fine.
It's those little gamma hits that
bother me. I wanted to show it
to a customer but will hold off
until they get a properly encoded file.

Lighting Storms

Lighting Storms

Damn lightning storms in Colorado...

I've tried to download the clip twice now and my comp has dropped the d/l twice!

Here goes lucky number 3...:help:

The clip looks fantastic. It is a little dark in the first third but the colour in the airborne scenes is gorgeous. Noise is simply not a factor. Very encouraging.

The full length version is about 13 minutes. At this resolution the download would be about 1.5GB. Too much for now. Plus we want as many people as possible to see it 4K.

Jim

Hey Jim, I'd still be glad to put this to HD DVD. Granted it would "only" be @ 1080p resolution - but that's the most consumers are going to see any time soon at home... which may be a target market for some.
Heck, if enough people want a copy, it would be under $1/unit for me to replicate them. (The same encoding can be used for Blu-ray, but those would cost about $10/unit  )
