I've just bought a Samyang from a place in Chester and the guy said he'd had the 24mm - His overall impression seemed to be that it was as typical as the non-cine versions of the Samyang/Rokinon, great quality, sharp, value for money - just with the added cine-modding (which for around £50 extra seems to be a good deal)

Gary who in Chester, I have been looking for someone who has stock

The cine versions not in stock yet (24 comes in September, 35 last week of August I think) but Camera Solutions in Frodsham Street are they place I use now... genuinely nice blokes, and charge exactly the same as places on the internet

[Edit] having said that they ordered the standard 35mm and it came in this morning - so give them a call and ask them about ordering in... y'know, like a good pizza ;)

The places I have seen in the UK do accept pre-orders but I have not seen any with stock yet.
I was also wondering, if these are 'just' cine-mods of the regular lenses, why the max apertures are different. Typically, the 24mm is f1.4 (vs T1.5 for the cine-mod), the 14mm is f2.8 (vs 3.1). Any clue?

The only 'on paper' difference I can see between the versions (aside form de-clicked apature and gear rings) is 12 elements in 10 groups (non-cine) vs. 12 elements in 12 groups (cine-version)... Will be interested to see what difference this makes

Because an 'f' stop and a 'T' stop are two different things… 'f' stop is theoretical math based on the lens transmitting 100% of the light (no light loss accounted for with coatings / glass etc which doesn't happen - ever). 'T' stop is actual measured transmitted light through the lens at a given aperture, much more accurate.

Absolutely right. I was wondering if it was 'just' the f vs T measures or anything else contributing (number of elements, glass quality, etc).

The 8mm, 14mm, 24mm and 35mm cine versions are out now in US shops like B&H. The 85mm is out next month with the 50mm to follow.

That number of elements was a typo. Its the same as the stills lens. The changes are: declicked, T-stop markings, gears and so far the diameter of the front has all been the same at 83mm for a 77mm filter thread. (8mm and 14mm can't take filters and can't be used with a matte box because the FOV is so wide.)

I have the 24mm and 35mm T1.5 cine lenses so far and love them. I can't wait for the rest! The 85mm and 50mm will be T1.5 also.

I have been very happy with the 35mm T1.5, very sharp, even all the way open. The gears and build of the lens are nice as well. There is some slight breathing though. Overall it's a great value.
