  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So I can automatically sync the audio, and for the most part it finds and links all the audio files, but the waveform is almost flat on the ext audio and the audio is either nonexistent or sounds really "fuzzy" and distorted.

The original WAV files sound perfect, both in Finder and FCP. Sample forrmat of WAV: Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 1 channels, 48000 Hz. Anywhere from 1-6 channels. Running build 256 on Mac Pro with Red Rocket.

Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem with audio playback quality of a 16bit 48Khz audio file.

I had to right click on the clip in the bin and select attach audio since the auto match feature wouldn't work at all ( I had used Wave Agent to set a timecode which matched the clip but it would not allow me to set a matching date - could this be why?)

The recording format was Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz. I assigned the correct framerate in Wave Agent to match the R3D clip.
24bit recordings at the Khz playback fine.

I am running RedCineX build 256 on Mac OSX 10.6.4 on a MBP Core2Duo with 3GB ram.

Great, thanks for the update.

Whilst you are at it it would be really nice to be able to scrub audio and hear it when scrubbing.

Also, would it be possible to expand the Quicktime wrapper functionality to link in and sync separate audio when we recreate the wrappers in REDCINEX so that they playback with the video from opening the wrapper file?

A number of productions seems to want to edit with the wrappers but use separate sound. Would be nice to provide them with sync clips...

And finally when I manually sync a clip in the viewer it loses sync again when I close and re-open REDCINEX, even though I saved the project and RMD files. It would be nice if it saved that sync data with the clips in the bin. What exactly is saved in a project file currently and what is not?

Okay, I think I got somewhere close to heart of the problem with updating sync clips for playback.

It looks like, since you can only currently auto match or attach audio items in the bin, if you have already opened the clip you are trying to sync audio to in the viewer (which you might often do to check Slate info) it does not get updated until you load it from the bin again into the viewer and you can't do this by dragging it in again off the batt you have to first open another clip then re-open the one you just attached audio to before it will appear with audio.

Frustrating and uninuitive but that's the only way I could get it work.

It would be really great if the manual included a section which explained the internal workings of how, what where and when things are saved and updated..
Like edit points and sync audio clip info and filepath are saved to .RMD files
Perhaps I've completely misunderstood. :anti-old:

Phase?

Phase?

Are you guys recording the same audio to 2 channels? I've been having out of phase problems that sound identical to what you're experiencing. Turn one channel off and everything sounds great.

Problem is fixed for me in build 260.

Thanks David and REDCineX team.

Problem reported and fixed within 2 weeks via software update - now that's customer service.

Can't say I've ever had a response like that for any software I have had a license for before.
