I will shoot at night and day some of my favorite Viennese locations and offer that for free as my MX reel contribution.

They would be the last shots with my RED1MX.

Just couple of days before I have to sent my RED to the new owner.

That's a bit sad Sanjin.

:(

David,

I don't see it like this at all.

My "former" R1-MX is still in my hands, delivering is probably next week to the buyer.

Btw, have a look at the screen shots from the last two days,

AC was Alfred J. Zacharias:

Nice shots, Sanjin. Were the Zeiss ones shot on a different day, or different time of day? They look somehow much more organic and pleasing, for lack of a better way to put it. It looks like Nikon shots were in harsh sunlight, where the Zeiss ones were in magic hour, or a bit overcast? I can't believe the lenses alone would make that much of a difference...

Joshua,

an excellent observation.

You are totally right that Zeiss shots were from another day (a cold day when the pool was empty) and wasn't hot like yesterday (btw. also the hot weather continues today).

Love the shots if The Belvedere. One of my favorite museums.
I suppose it is rather difficult to sneak a Red One onto the Riesenrad?

:-)

A good idea.

I'll try to get in the Giant Ferris Wheel (Wiener Riesenrad) at Prater to make sort of The Third Man's shots of the city...

Stay tuned.

RED EPIC 5K brain with a various interchangeable mounts from Leica M to Panavision PV mount.

My dream is to put Epic in my backpack, use mostly one or maximum three lenses

(18-200mm zoom, 11-16mm zoom, 50m f/1.2 or f1/1.4 fast lens for a night shots),

get on my city or mounting bike and go to find and shoot a real world documentary situations at 5K.

Already longer time training myself with 7D but the image quality is far inferior to R1-MX.

Then again waiting for EPIC.

Please don't re-post giant collections of images. Or any entire message, for that matter. That's a full page of redundant material that people have to wade through.

To your point: There are some video-looking characteristics to those shots. What's up with the black halos around objects? In particular, have a look at the close-up of the statue of the griffin spraying water from its beak in front of the grassy slope.

I have no idea what others may think. This seems to be shot in a $1000 VDSLR to me.

Yes, you could probably get very nice stills like that from a DSLR, but, if I am not mistaken, these are frames from high rez footage shot at 24 fps (or more?). You won't get the same performance from a vDSLR.

obviously a compressed jpeg scaled down won't look as good as a 4k tiff screen grab. Sanjin, was expecting some more leica glass material, guess the zoom made more sense for run and grab shots.

I think that some people HERE do not know what they are talking about.

But I'm already pretty used to readings and watching that level of "jealousy and stupidity" when some people talking against RED1.

But this can't be only related to "ordinary" shooters just because that sort of a "conformist skin" can also be applied to some of so called high-end professionals in the field.

Here I mean they also do not no what they are talking about when they put RED in their mouth just because they are supposed to be "biased" to another tool or...

Now go back to those screen grabs when my AC Alfred J. Zacharias saw them on this forum's tread he immediately call me and said that all those grabs look pretty sharp

and clean compared to his shots in video mode that he did with Canon 5DMK2 simultaneously during my shooting with RED1-MX.

Please do not misundertand my words. I just think this would be ok for a VDSLR reel, not for a R1-MX reel.

Mr. Paul White,

the main differences between R1MX and Canon VDSLRs are the line skipping and moire artifacts that you can't find at RED 4K, 4.5K footage or stills..

Also the advantage of R1MX with comparison to other HDDSLRs and even HD cine-video cameras is the resolution 4K, 4.5K and soon tomorrow with EPIC 5K REDCODE RAW.

Don't forget that with "cheap" R1MX you can't get any "crippled" Apple ProRes HD variant or so called (but it's all a pure fake) "uncompressed HD-SDI out" 4444 RGB files.

BTW, with a proper RedRocket configured desktop computer you get the conversion to Apple ProRes 4444 @ 4.5K, 4K, 3K , 2K or HD RGB faster

than the other competitor camera can transfer its HD only "baked" ProRes files from Sony SxS card to the MacBookPro drive...

Terribly sorry for a sort of "treat" just because here is a lot of World Soccer Cup South Africa and

cooled Austrian white wine (Nikolaihof Wachau Hefeabzug Grüner Veltlinerr) around and inside me...

a shame for no original scoring, my bud and I would be ready to go just rearranging what we scored for the last MX Reel (no it's not something that you could slap on anything, it's definitely timed and fitting for each scene...)

Sorry for the late submission. I just uploaded my Music. I was on a long shoot and did not see this post till now. Hope it helps.
Very excited to see the new reel.
Thank you RED team for your hard work. Keep it up.
