  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new RED Pro Program...

Things are looking really good. I hope there are holes tapped on top of all the modules. I would like to be able to have something similar to the ET topside combo still be possible. I use the cheeseplate for all sorts of things as well as the top rods. Keep at it!

Here is the Mac-Daddy shoulder rig... remember, we are showing you stuff we have already beaten.

Cool...

What's with the antenna?

I know you guys have moved on from this design, but it'd be nice if there was a way to attach a QRP to the bottom for lightweight handheld rigs without removing the shoulder pad. Click it off the RBQ and put it on the shoulder.

Here's one for you "shoulder shooters"...

Nice, now were getting somewhere! Since it's in my nature to strive for perfection, how about a spacer module? Nothing more than a frame (It's been suggested many times before) just to get the battery weight out back more where it can balance a short zoom like an Optimo 15-40 or 28-76.

This is really killer guys, and the "Sight" I'm gon be huntin' some films with that there pea shooter you'all buildin'.:gun: :help:

A "spacer module", that sounds like a great idea if the viewfinder/monitor and shoulderpad can't be mounted further forward. Even if they can, it could still come in handy depending on your configuration.

A spacer is a great idea!!

psThe antenna is interesting as well!

The spacer idea is a good one... prototyped a couple of weeks ago... but we had the advantage of seeing this before you guys did. :-)

Remember, we are not showing you the most current stuff. At least great minds do think alike.

Seeing as RED is all about modular components this question might seem superfluous, but I have to ask it; will that hand grip (for us shoulder shooters) be compatible with the Scarlet, as well?

I don't think anyone said this render isn't Scarlet. The only external difference between EPIC and Scarlet is an inch or two in size. I'm 100% sure this handgrip will work on both Scarlet and EPIC though.

Brilliant. What a great time to be a filmmaker.

So, all brains have 3.5mm mini plugs for audio, is that correct? What about headphones?

I believe Jim stated only the fixed lens Scarlet will have the 3.5mm min plugs. All other brains are brains only. If you need to go light and quick this would be the one to use!

Is that wrong or will every brain have the 3.5mm?
I'm not sure how you read that as "wrong;" Jarred pretty plainly stated that the input jacks are "on the brain." From what I've gathered (or the impression they've given me, anyway), all of the brains are identical with the differentiating factor being the sensor that's inside (and in the case of Scarlet vs. Epic, the physical size and how much processing horsepower there is under the hood). I'm not sure why one camera would have a jack that another would not.

Jarred's response was to someone asking specifically about the fixed lens Scarlet so I thought it might only apply to that version.

Here is where Jim said only the fixed Scarlet has audio built in:

The same modules can be added to all bodies... extra cost. Fixed has audio... but not the same level as the module shown (no room).

Jim

I dunno maybe I am reading all of this wrong...

You are reading it wrong. The Fixed has audio. The others have audio. (You were only talking about the fixed in your post). Advanced audio in the modules. Hope that makes it more clear.

Jim

Hey Jim, how many tracks of audio will these babies record?
Fixed and 2/3 cinema.

Jim I think we are worry about the price of the audio module...
Have you got an estimated idea of the range price of the audio module?
Have you got an estimated idea of the range price of the mini-primes (each)?

Just say the range you are considering....

We are really anxious...

THX!

Any chance of making the spacer adjustable; keep the connection as a [coiled] cable (between end plates) and either use a setup like a car jack or clamps on the outside of each 'end' to allow them to slide along rails so the distance between each end and therefore the size of the spacer is constantly variable?

Hope that makes some kind of sense.
