  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new RED Pro Program...

What other focal lengths would you like to see? We are considering a 14mm and a 21mm. Thoughts?

14mm for sure! Would also like to see a 10mm at some point down the line.

Some people may find the 21mm useful, but I personally wouldn't place it very high on my list if there's already an 18 and 25 in the set. I would say on the other end of the range, a 125, 135 or 150 would be a welcome addition. Maybe a 65mm and a 200mm.. I think owner operators will be happy with a nice set of 6 to 8 lenses. Rental houses will probably want the availability of many more focal lengths, similar to what Arri offers with the UP's.

What about macro abilities? I think a 50mm and 100mm macro would be great. Or what about a macro adapter for a couple of the lenses in the range, if it doesn't introduce too much light loss.

a 14mm and a 10mm would just be amazing, or a 10-20mm zoom?

Jim,
they look great as does you're delivery timeframes and pricing. I so want them!!
So I'd be looking to get mine in Q3/Q4 2009.
(All that fall/summer talk confuses the hell out of us bottom dwellers in Oz)

Will I have to buy more lenses to utilise the full frame of the FF35 when you release it in Q4 2009?

I've got to start making more money. In all seriousness. I've heard of people starting business loans and making a modest living off of camera equipment. Renting? Shooting? What are you all doing to be able to afford this stuff?

They will be sold as a set at 1st. All 5 lenses for just under $20K ($4K each). All 6 lenses (add the Pro 300mm) for just under $25K. Later this year we will sell the primes individually for just under $5K each, except the Pro 300mm which is $5950.

Better to buy the set... :-)

Jim

:waaa: Wow. I don't know what else to say but 'Wow.'

Jim and Jarred, are you guys for real? Seriously.

12 mm, 14 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm, 21 mm, 25 mm, 27 mm, 32 mm,

35 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 65 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm,

180 mm, 300 mm.

This should be a full set (for a future) and doesn't have to be that all lenses have the same speed.

Look at and learn that from Panavision.

It's all about a picture quality and beauty not so much about the specs.

YES ! and a 65mm.

All need to be T1.9 14, 18, 21, 25, 35, 50, 65, 85, 100 would be a great set.

Truly happy that it finally seems to be happening.

I completey agree. You could also add a 150mm, then we have a really great set 14-300

if they told you, they would have to kill you:shiftyph34r:

seriously... rental business is tough and VERY competitive... most are shooters
and directors... as far as I gather... as for loans.. not right now... trust you read the news... banks are massively upside down... lending is almost non-existent... stimuls will help.. but cash is king right now.

Hi Tim (looks like we live close),

I'm guessing their directors for commercials, promo's that sort of thing. And being a shooter would mean I'd need shoots lined up... of which I have none. And actually I'm not really in tune with the whole financial turmoil thing... I don't get paid for my work anyways. HA.
So what is the Oregon "scene" like? Do you work in film here? Or is it a hobby?

(sorry to OTish a thread.)

-Josh

something to split the gap betwixt the 100 and 300... not that I can afford any of them.... yet :)

Later,
Jason
